International Canary & Finch Society

International Canary & Finch Society We are a group of canary and finch breeders and pet bird owners. Membership in ICFS is open to anyone who is interested in canaries and/or finches.

The International Canary Society (ICS) was founded in 1994 by a group of enthusiastic canary breeders who wanted to promote the breeding and showing of all breeds of canaries. A few years later, finches were added to our show and then they became a part of the club changing the original name to it's current form (ICFS). Most of our members are from Western New York but many of the original and c

urrent members are also from Southern Ontario which makes us truly an "International" club. We have members from other areas in New York State and other states as well, including Maryland, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey and Florida. The club membership consists mainly of breeders and exhibitors of canaries and finches wishing to excel in their particular specialties. Novices as well as accomplished breeders are welcome to join us. It is the club's intention to help get the new breeder off to a good start. We are always happy to share our experiences to help someone getting started or to help improve ourselves. Along with participating in their own show, many ICFS members also travel around the country to determine how their breeding programs compare to other breeders. Breeding, showing and husbandry issues are typically discussed at the regular meetings with guest lecturers being invited often to speak on interesting issues. In addition to our informative monthly meetings, we also publish a monthly newsletter. The newsletter contains information on care, breeding and helpful tips and tricks! Come and join us!!! Enjoy learning about canaries and finches along with others who share your interest. Be sure to check out our website for more information. You are welcome to call any of the officers or board members for more information. Hope to see you soon!!!
