FONS April Roundtable - Tuesday, April 28, at 5 pm at the Newtown Senior Center - Challenges of Newtown Housing. Join the discussion on what seniors need, want and wish for in housing. Discussion will be led by Joan Alexander, FONS Board Member and local realtor who will provide data and perspective on Newtown real estate. Come with questions and real estate topics to discuss. Friends of Newtown Seniors Annual Donation Appeal

Dear Friends,
FONS is an all-volunteer non-profit organization, dedicated to the purpose of serving our Newtown seniors, through advocacy, education, programs, and critically important services. As such, we rely on funding through grants, fundraisers, and donations to achieve these goals.
We appreciate your support in the past, and once again hope that you are able to assist us in continuing our mission. If you are able to make a donation to FONS, you may now make it online by clicking on the link below:

Our 2025 Donation Appeal will run until December 15.

2025 has been a very busy and exciting year for FONS:
•Timeless Newtown – One Town One Read program featuring the book Ageism Unmasked, offering workshops and other events, culminating in an author presentation at the Edmond Town Hall.
•Nutrition Program – grant-funded ongoing series of events at the Newtown Senior Center.
•Annual Membership Meeting – 100 attendees at the May event.
•Newtown Rides – expansion of our all-volunteer free ride program for seniors to locations in Newtown.
•Chore Services – referrals, assistance with home repairs, and other senior needs.
•Roundtables – monthly discussions featuring various speakers from town organizations on topics of interest to seniors, including town elections.
•Social Events – monthly dinner socials, Summer Soiree, Oktoberfest, Little Theater events.
•Community Collaboration – Lions Duck Race, Labor Day Parade, Newtown Arts Festival, Newtown Health Fair, Salvation Army Kettle Bell Drives.
•Communication – Monthly Age 65 Birthday Mailings, Weekly Emails, articles in The Newtown Bee.

Although FONS is an all-volunteer 501 (c) 3 organization, you should consult your tax adviser concerning deductions. The FONS 2024 Annual Report is available through the link below for further information about us.

Timeless Newtown One Town One Read Author Presentation - Please join us on Thursday, September 18, at 7 pm at the Edmond Town Hall, 45 Main Street, Newtown, for Dr. Tracey Gendron's presentation on her book - Ageism Unmasked: Exploring Age Bias and How to End It.

Max Kapytka, a 16-year-old Brookfield High School student and co-founder of Munchin Hedgehog Ice Cream & International Sweet Shop, will be the moderator. Doors open at 6 pm. This event is FREE.

If you haven't already done so, pick up a free copy of the book at the C.H. Booth Library, the Newtown Youth Academy (NYA), the Newtown Community Center or the Newtown Municipal Center and join the Newtown One Town One Read Program! Sign up for the author presentation on 9/18.
