725 meaningful Acts of Kindness completed!!

From knitting blankets for our furry friends at Newtown Animal Control Shelter, to collecting donations around their neighborhoods for FAITH Food Pantry, to supporting one another at school, and being kind at home, our kids are magnificent!

Our first week of Kindness Craze ended on such a wonderful note!

25 kids went home with prizes today! All of these kids earned raffle tickets based on their kindness acts being logged at home and by receiving kindness tickets at school. Every single prize was donated by our incredible business community. We are so lucky to have their support in everything we do. We had 5 kids win ice cream cones to Ferris Acres Creamery this week as well. Wait until they see what next week’s prizes are! 😍

Each cluster that raises $1,000, not only earns an extra recess, they will receive a big bag of classroom supplies! Congratulations to the Hughes / Strong and Valinsky / Brown clusters!!! 🥳

Feel good moments to share:

💙Kids who show kindness everyday are in the spotlight! It is so awesome to see these kiddos shining bright.
💙The kids who go about their day are seizing opportunities to be kind to fellow classmates.
💙The kids who are rockstar fundraisers, are keeping their promise and paying it forward.
💙Kids who sit alone, had classmates sit with them.
💙Kids who needed help, had a classmate there to help them.
💙Kids who forgot their books and Chromebooks, were offered to share by their classmates.
💙Kids thanked staff and gave compliments.
💙I heard more please and thank you’s this week than I have in a long time.
💙Kids wanted to hold the doors at lunch and recess to allow all kids to enter or exit. If you have ever seen them entering and leaving the cafeteria, you know how Mufasa felt in the Lion King. 🦁
💙Staff and students are voting for staff to earn raffle tickets too. So many tickets to continue passing out to staff. They have different prizes they are hoping to win 😉
💙We have filled almost an entire table of donations to FAITH Food Pantry and Dorothy Day! All of the books being donated are fantastic! Kids are checking the book donations to see which books they are going to pick at the book swap. 📚 Please keep the donations coming, if you are able to.
💙We started the week with a handful of kindness tickets and it’s grown each day. Today 69 kids received kindness tickets from staff at school.
💙Fun stat: our 5th graders are blowing the 6th graders out of the water! Come on 6th graders, you got this!

Here’s to hoping week two is even more successful, exciting, heartwarming, and most of all, kind!

Our hallways are flowing with kindness!

Here are some of the students kindness tickets from today, it is so hard to pick just a few to share! Your kids are AMAZING 💙

~ a student stood up for another kid when they were being treated unfairly.
~ a student brought in her own pencils from home to donate to our classroom because we have a shortage. (Don’t you all worry, I hear the classroom supply fairy is dropping off a big box of pencils tomorrow 😉)
~ a student helped a peer find the materials he was missing.
~ a student noticed a classmate sat on her own and she went to sit with her.
~ a student noticed a student who was upset and reached out to help her in PE.
~ a student noticed a classmate sitting on her own in the cafeteria and went to sit with her.
~ a student initiated making a class get well card for their teacher. (Who was out sick today)
~ a student spoke about ending child abuse in the world, because “Kids deserve better”.

105 acts of kindness completed!

As our students are caught being kind at school, staff are giving them tickets and taking the opportunity to praise their kindness!

Just a few reasons Kindness Tickets were given today:

~ a student sat next to a student who was eating alone at lunch.
~ a student used their free time in class to organize the classroom library.
~ for having a great attitude, listening, not complaining and smiling.
~ a student helped another student to pick up when they spilled their snack.
~ a student helped a staff carry her supplies into the classroom.

Way to go Reed Kids! We are so proud of you! 💙
