The world cries again, sadly without surprise nearly 10 years later, as once unthinkable, is now a trend. We keep the entire Robb Elementary School community in your thoughts and prayers.

If you're wondering how to help the folks in Florida, I did find this page set up by local media (link below). The emotional impact on Ash Wednesday and Valentines Day no less, will make this tragedy all too easily remembered for a lifetime for all of us. But, any tragedy on any day, obviously dramatically changes a community, especially impacting the families of those lost, and those witnesses at the scene. And so while no amount of money can bring them back, it does provide for families who will be shattered and unable to return to work, and will assist the 3000+ students and faculty and their close family and friends who will need varying forms of assistance, not just now, but for a lifetime. With any luck they will have the vision to adequately memorialize and honor those lost with suitable remembrances for their friends and family now departed. With surviving wounded as well, they are in need of blood. If you are so inclined to give what you can, here is a link that will help with either form of donation:

Broward County Public Schools said it is receiving reports of multiple injuries. A suspect is in custody, the sheriff's office said on Twitter. Dozens of law enforcement vehicles are on site, including one tank, along with a team of heavily armed law enforcement officers. Agents from the Miami offic...

Indeed, it goes far beyond any words, thoughts, or prayers, the sadness we all feel for those lost, those injured, and for those who remain in grief—the witnesses and families of loss. At times like this, it’s hard to imagine how the world keeps turning. Somehow, we all move forward, and we don’t forget. Yet, we move forward with hope that events like this never happen again. May the root cause of any form of cruelty in this world be eradicated, and may we have the strength to bravely move forward once again.

I'm not a daily facebooker, but just today I was feeling upset and alone about how few people understand the ongoing support needs for counseling and other mental health treatments that exist in our town in the wake of this. Beyond those needs, I yearn to find ways to increase our ongoing scholarship fundraising for those affected and possibly generations to come in honor of those we lost. Just 5 minutes after having those thoughts, I opened to our page and found this huge effort and pure generosity. And whether 5 bucks (or in a couple of cases, an entire piggy bank of a child reaching out with what they had), or something massive like this, it is so heart warming to realize that we're not forgotten and it gives me hope that NMF's mission can continue in some form going forward. Thank you Robin and Marcus and the entire crew in NY!!
