Newtown Rotary Club

Newtown Rotary Club The Newtown Rotary Club, founded in 1953, has served the local and international communities for over 70 years. Harris. We persevere in tough times.

Our 1.2 million-member organization started with the vision of one man—Paul P. The Chicago attorney formed one of the world’s first service organizations, the Rotary Club of Chicago, on 23 February 1905 as a place where professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Rotary’s name came from the group’s early practice of rotating meetings among

the offices of each member. OUR ONGOING COMMITMENT
Rotarians have not only been present for major events in history—we’ve been a part of them. From the beginning, three key traits have remained strong throughout Rotary:

We’re truly international. Only 16 years after being founded, Rotary had clubs on six continents. Today we’re working together from around the globe both digitally and in-person to solve some of our world’s most challenging problems. During WWII, Rotary clubs in Germany, Austria, Italy, Spain, and Japan were forced to disband. Despite the risks, many continued to meet informally and following the war’s end, Rotary members joined together to rebuild their clubs and their countries. Our commitment to service is ongoing. We began our fight against polio in 1979 with a project to immunize 6 million children in the Philippines. By 2012, only three countries remain polio-endemic—down from 125 in 1988.

During our Lunch Meeting on Wednesday, June 3rd, we had the distinct pleasure of awarding Newtown EMS, Inc. with a check for $3,000 to support the purchase of computers for their ambulances. This investment in technology will enable faster response time and even better care for patients. We had the honor of hearing from Evan Resnikoff, Chief of Emergency Medical Services along with Deputy Chief, Kevin Gordon. Our biggest takeaway is that our community is blessed with an incredible, lifesaving team at the Newtown EMS, Inc.! Their success rate is the highest in Bucks County and well above the average for our state. The Newtown Rotary Club is privileged to support this amazing team and looks forward to a continued strong partnership for years to come. Pictured below are Newtown Rotary President Steve Sabel along with Evan Resnikoff and Kevin Gordon.

We held one of our favorite lunch meetings of the year on Wednesday, May 20th! During this meeting, Rob Brown had the opportunity to recognize outstanding Council Rock North students as part of our "Students of the Month" recognition program. We are proud to honor these local students who demonstrate outstanding achievement in academics, leadership, character, and service to their school and community. We were reminded that our future is in good hands after listening to each student talk about their High School experience and plans for College. Below you will see a photo of our amazing award recipients (left to right) Jack McGrath, Madeline Bradac, Chloe Ranck and Christopher Woods together with Rob Brown and Rotary President, Steve Sabel. Each recipient was supported by a family member which made it all the more special. Beatrice Tysh was unable to attend and we extend our congratulations and admiration to all five students!

The Newtown Rotary Club’s Food Drive at McCaffrey’s last Saturday brought the community together to support local families in need, collecting essential food items for the Wrightstown Food Pantry. Through the generosity of shoppers and volunteers, we were able to collect over 22 shopping carts full of food and a cast donation of over $500. We are proud to have helped strengthen food security in our area while demonstrating the power of neighbors helping neighbors. Thanks to Shari Donahue for spearheading this biannual effort and thanks to McCaffrey's Market for always being a strong partner for our Club and community!

What a special Lunch Meeting we had on Wednesday, May 13th at the American Legion! We welcomed Betsey King and Lori Michelin from the Newtown Historic Association. Many of us know NHS's mission is to preserve, protect, and promote the rich history of Newtown and its surrounding communities through education, preservation, and community engagement. We were so happy to better understand this group's commitment to our wonderful community and were so happy to have them share their work with us. For more information on the NHS, click this link and enjoy https://newtownhistoric.org/! Thank you, Betsey and Lori!

During our Lunch Meeting on Wednesday, May 6th from 12:15pm-1:30m, the Newtown Rotary Club had the pleasure of welcoming members of PATHS-Professional Alliance to Help Seniors - to speak to us. PATHS is a group of dedicated & compassionate professionals committed to providing Seniors of Bucks County and their families with information, resources, and services they need to help them address & resolve issues that arise during the aging process. Each member of the alliance spoke to us about their contributions and this group is very impressive. We have a record sized group of 60 people for this meeting! If you'd like to learn more about PATHS, click on this link https://pathsbucks.com/. We thank them for what they do to serve our community and for sharing themselves with us last week.
