๐ปOver the past week, we said "yes" to two unexpected intakes who desperately needed help.
๐ถ Spike, a 10ยฝ-year-old Yorkie, came to us after his owner faced an unimaginable series of hardships. After losing his wife and recently losing his home to foreclosure, he found himself with nowhere that would accept both him and his beloved dog.
Making the decision to surrender a pet you love is heartbreaking, and our hearts go out to them both.
๐ฐ Alfie was found abandoned and had clearly been neglected for quite some time. His fur was heavily matted and dirty, and all four paws were stained yellow from prolonged exposure to urine.
Thankfully, he's now safe, loved, and on the road to recovery.
โ๏ธThis week, both Alfie and Spike visited our veterinarian. โค๏ธ
The good news: both are healthy, in good condition, have been neutered, and are now up to date on their vaccinations.
Unfortunately, Spike's exam revealed significant dental disease that had likely been causing discomfort for quite some time. He required a dental procedure and three tooth extractions to relieve pain and prevent further complications.
The total veterinary bill for these two unexpected intakes came to $1,412.
๐๐ผPlease help us continue saying "yes" to animals in need. ๐ซถ
