🇺🇸 As America celebrates 250 years, CREF is proud to celebrate the educators, donors, and community members who are helping Council Rock School District students connect with history and civic responsibilities that have shaped our nation.
In recent years, CREF Learning Grants have brought American history to life through museum-quality exhibits on voting rights and World War II, student-authored books about the Constitution and the U.S. government, and an Independence Hall-inspired classroom where students participate in debates and historical simulations.
🎉 That work continues in 2026-2027 with two newly awarded grants!
Declaration of Independence: Interactive School Museum brings The Big Bang of Modern Democracy exhibit to middle school students through primary source reproductions from The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round brings the documentary film and guided discussion to help high school students explore civil rights, civic action, justice, and community responsibility.
These experiences give students the chance to learn from 250 years of American history and consider how they can help shape what comes next.
We are grateful to the educators who created these projects and to the donors who made them possible, including alumni donors like the Schwartz Family, whose generosity has supported several of these civic-focused opportunities.
This July 4, celebrate America’s 250th by getting involved close to home. Donate, volunteer, or serve on a CREF committee to help us champion the next educator-inspired idea. Civic engagement grows when people choose to participate and invest in the next generation.
