Edited: Yes, we are doing a properly socially-distanced mini-parade for Memorial Day. Meeting up at Post 440 at 0800 to go first to Old St Andrew’s Cemetery and then to Newtown Cemetery. A few walkers will be (socially-distant) at Morell Smith’s gravesite at 0830.

This young girl (not identified) is at the Memorial Day commemoration of Council Rock High School-North, Newtown PA. She is kneeling at the photographs of soldiers who graduated there and were killed in action. There are over a dozen graduates photographed and she is writing the name of each one on her arm.

Our Memorial day Parade is rapidly approaching!
We need VETERANS!

Come join us on May. 27 at 8:00 AM (or for you Navy or CG or Merchant Marines folks, 2 bells, pause, 2 bells, pause, 2 bells, pause, 2 bells; if you were Army, Air Force or Marines it's 0800 hours) behind the Newtown Commons on Washington St., (just follow the crowd).

Show up with something wearable to identify your branch of service (T-shirt, sweat shirt, ball cap) and if you still fit into your uniform - WEAR IT!

No Excuses!

Be there or be square.

National Vietnam War Veterans Day is a US holiday observed annually on March 29. It recognizes veterans who served in the US military during the Vietnam War.

Say; "Welcome Home" to a Vietnam Vet.

Greeting Veterans of Newtown. While it is still February, we (American Legion Post 440) are intently planning our Memorial Day Parade. This year, we will have the honor of the Pennsylvania National Guard marching with us. They may even bring some "equipment" with them.😉

This year is also the 100th anniversary of the American Legion AND Post 440. We will have challenge coins available, a special guest speaker and who knows what else.

Check back every now and then and as we get closer to Memorial Day, I will be posting specific instructions on the where, when and how for those of you who wish to join in.

Veteran's Day is coming up in less than 6 weeks. Watch this page for events in the area. There are quite a few and we'd like to get as many vets out as we can at the various events.
