***SERVICE OPPORTUNITY***

This Saturday, May 30, volunteers are invited to help with the Avenue of Flags Removal Day at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.

This is a simple and meaningful way to spend a morning giving back. We will be walking the cemetery grounds and respectfully removing the poles and flags that were placed for Memorial Day. Each flag represents someone who served our country, and this is a small way to honor that service.

Volunteers must register so we can keep everyone updated if there are any changes. (Spots are limited.)

Join us in a meaningful tribute to honor our veterans as we gather to remove approximately 150 U.S. flags from Washington Crossing National Cemetery following Veterans Day. Together, we will respectfully take down the temporary flagpoles and retire the "Avenue of Flags," a moving display that hon...

The Guardians of the National Cemetery invite the community to join us tomorrow for our Unaccompanied Service at Washington Crossing National Cemetery as we honor 2 veterans who will be laid to rest with no family present to witness their final salute.

Your presence ensures they are not alone and that their service is met with dignity, respect, and gratitude.

We will honor:

PVT Mark M. Steel - US Army
PFC Fred Jackson - US Marine Corps

These services reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every veteran interred at WCNC is remembered, respected, and honored with the dignity they earned through their service.

🇺🇸This. Right. Here!!!🇺🇸

What a powerful and meaningful day at Conwell-Egan Catholic High School-Scott Craven Memorial Wall.

The CEC– Travis Manion Foundation Club students spent the entire school year researching 5 local veterans, and today we unveiled their work on the memorial wall for those veterans' families, the local community, and CEC leadership.

When this wall was created, the original vision was for students to continue adding local veterans each year so future generations would understand that service and sacrifice came from right here in our own community.

This is the first TMF Club to carry that vision forward, and they did an OUTSTANDING job bringing it to life, creating a model for future clubs to continue researching and honoring local veterans so these stories are never lost.
(Earlier this week, they also helped install the plaque, and seeing it officially unveiled today made the moment even more impactful.)

***Moments like this matter because they remind us of something we should NEVER lose sight of. Freedom comes at a cost. It is not free, and it never has been. Teaching this generation to understand and respect that sacrifice is one of the most important things we can do as TMF mentors.***

Huge thanks to the Guardians Of The National Cemetery Color Guard for opening the program and setting a powerful, respectful tone for the entire ceremony. To Bob Dinan for his leadership and dedication to the CEC TMF Club, to Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick for being present and supporting this next generation of leaders, and to TMF's COO Josh Jabin for speaking to the importance of character... especially about being big in the little things, and how the small choices we make every day are what ultimately define who we are!

I’m truly honored to mentor such exceptional students, and incredibly proud of what they accomplished today!

Some moments stay with you forever… standing beside a family as they say goodbye, hearing taps, the echo of the rifle firing, and witnessing a life that included service to our country, honored with the dignity it deserves. Every man and woman who raised their right hand made a commitment to this great nation, and THAT deserves the utmost respect on their final journey.

At Washington Crossing National Cemetery, these honors are what set it apart from other cemeteries. The Guardians- Honor Guard, made up entirely of volunteers, ensures every veteran is laid to rest with unwavering precision, dignity, and respect.

If you have witnessed these military honors, we would be truly grateful if you would share your experience through a Google review. These reviews are especially meaningful because families often read them while trying to understand what to expect, and they can offer comfort during one of the hardest moments in their lives. They also help others see the care, respect, and professionalism that go into each service.

The Guardians of the National Cemetery have a rare opening for a bugler, and we are searching for someone ready to stand alongside an exceptional Honor Guard team in service of something greater than themselves.

There is no sound more powerful or more honorable than Taps echoing across a national cemetery. It is the final salute, the last note of gratitude for those who gave everything for this nation. We are looking for someone who understands the weight of that moment and is willing to show up and deliver it with the dignity our heroes deserve.

If you play the bugle or trumpet and feel called to serve in this meaningful way, we would love to hear from you.

* You do not need to be a veteran to answer this call.

Please visit our website for more details and share this post. The right person is out there, and our heroes deserve nothing less than the best final salute we can give them.
