More images from Marple-Newtown Historic Day June 6th. These are from the historic sites in Marple Township. First is the Massey House where hearth cooking was demonstrated by the very talented Cindy Faulkner. Cindy regularly demonstrates this cooking method at the Colonial Farmstead inside Ridley Creek State Park. Also at Massey House is blacksmith Jeff Wolfe, demonstrating his skills in this very authentic setting. The last photos are of Stoney Lonesome, a private residence, owned by Barb and Will Rompala whose hospitality and beautifully maintained interior was noted by all their visitors.
Visit the Marple Township Historical Society for more information about their rich and fascinating history very much linked to Newtown Township.

A Wonderful two day celebration of Arbor Day happened this past Friday and Saturday at the 1742 Square Tavern and Square Tavern Green. Shade and Fruit Trees were planted on the tavern green, potted Trees were given away to residents. Tours and "Trees" Art Exhibit was held inside the Tavern, two nature walks occurred along the Goshen and Liseter Trails, and the 160 year old London Plane Tree alongside the tavern was designated a Heritage Tree by the Newtown Square Historical Society.
Thank you to Newtown Township Park and Recreation for organizing this event, to Public Works for planting the trees, to George Sharetts, head of Public works for growing and nurturing the trees to give to the Public, Wade Po***ck, Carol Wagner, Rob Vanicollo and Peter Lake, of Park and Rec, Terry McCarthy fearless trail walker and leader of "All those who Wander", Cheryl Grosso, township supervisor and all the volunteers who helped make this a very fun and successful community event.
