Yesterday, we proudly celebrated the ribbon-cutting of the new Newton Food Pantry at 131 Rumford Avenue in Auburndale — a space built to better serve our community with fresh, healthy, and culturally relevant food. In a truly special moment, the ribbon was snipped by our founder, Jackie Colby, now 102 years old, who first created the Newton Food Pantry in 1983. Her vision and kindness laid the foundation for everything we do today.
The new Newton Food Pantry is a testament to what is possible when compassion meets commitment. From a donated piece of undeveloped land to the hundreds of hands that brought our vision to life, this building gives us the tools, the capacity, and the flexibility to alleviate hunger throughout our city both today and for years to come.
We are excited to officially open our doors for client services on Wednesday, June 24. Thank you to everyone who helped make this milestone possible. The work continues — and we’re just getting started! Photos by
