We want to thank every single volunteer who has stepped up to ring the bell for the Newton Service Unit of the Salvation Army. From families, students, teachers, church members, and community leaders, to friends who simply saw a need and said yes, your time matters more than you know.

Standing in the cold, smiling at strangers, and giving of your time is not small work. It is compassion in action. It is love with boots on. It is what makes Newton, Newton.

A special thank you to Luke, Maggie, and Liam for serving and representing the Newton 4H Club so well. Your willingness to give back speaks volumes about your character and your heart for this community.

Because of you, neighbors in need will have food on their tables, warmth in their homes, and hope in difficult seasons. Your generosity keeps our community standing strong.

To every volunteer, past and present, thank you for showing up, showing out, and showing what true service looks like. We could not do this without you.

A huge thank you to Lee and Vicki Fillyaw for faithfully giving their time and heart to serve our community through the Salvation Army. Your willingness to show up and serve does not go unnoticed, and it makes a real difference for families right here in Newton.

We also want to be honest with our community. This year, we are at an all-time low in funds raised, while the need in our county continues to grow. That means we need help now more than ever.

Our bell-ringing season has been extended through January 31st, and we are asking for our community to rally together.

We are especially inviting:
• School groups and student organizations
• Church groups and ministries
• Local businesses and civic groups
• Families, friends, and neighbors

to please consider volunteering a shift.

It’s simple. It’s meaningful. And it truly changes lives.

We are so grateful for leaders who don’t just hold a title, but hold a heart for the people they serve.

A big thank you to Newton County Judge Ronnie Cochran and his wife, Rhonda, for taking time to ring the bell and support families right here in our community. This is just one of the many ways our county judge continues to give back and stay connected to the needs of the people of Newton County. That kind of leadership matters, and we truly appreciate it.

Every bell rung represents hope, help, and compassion for someone who needs it, and every volunteer makes that possible.

If you’d like to be part of it, there’s still time to sign up and serve:

One of the best parts of this season has been watching families step into service together. Moments like this are simple, quiet, and powerful. No spotlight, no big stage, just people showing up for their neighbors.

This is how communities stay strong. Not by waiting on someone else, but by ordinary people choosing to care.

A heartfelt thank you to the Gerngross family, Adam, Kayla, Lyla, Chloe, and Emilee, for showing up and serving with such kindness. Your willingness to give your time made a real difference.

All funds raised here stay local to help residents of Newton during their time of need, whether that’s after a disaster, during a financial hardship, or in an unexpected crisis.

If you’ve been thinking, “I could do that,” you absolutely can. We still have open slots and would love to have you be part of it.

🎄✨ Step Into the Spirit of Giving This Season ✨

The Newton Service Unit of the Salvation Army needs YOU now more than ever. ❤️ With football season behind us and Christmas upon us, the need for volunteers is at its highest. In recent years, we have seen a decrease in volunteers, while at the same time experiencing a greater demand for assistance from families right here in Newton.

Every dollar raised through the Red Kettles stays local and helps our neighbors during some of their hardest moments, whether that means assistance with utility bills or providing shelter for families affected by house fires. This work simply cannot be done without volunteers and the generosity of those who give. Your time and your kindness truly matter.

🔔 Volunteer to ring the Kettle Bell and spread hope this holiday season. It is a simple way to make a powerful difference, and it brings joy to both the giver and the receiver.

📅 Bring your family, friends, coworkers, or your whole crew and turn it into a meaningful moment of service. Every hour you give helps change lives in our community.

🎁 If any businesses or individuals would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to this 501(c)(3), please reach out to us. We gladly accept donations beyond the Red Kettle, and those gifts can be earmarked specifically to support Newton residents.

Let’s come together and make this season brighter for our community. Thank you for showing up with compassion, generosity, and heart. 💛
