Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership of Hebrew College

10/01/2026

Yesterday, Miller Center for Interreligious Learning & Leadership of Hebrew College partnered with BTI, the Boston Theological Interreligious Consortium to host a gathering for Boston area theology students in the Hebrew College sukkah on our shared campus in Newton! Attendants enjoyed dinner and conversation, sang and reflected together, and assembled soup packs to address Boston-area food insecurity in partnership with Repair the World.

Miller Center Director Rabbi Or Rose and our rabbinical students were thrilled to host guests in sukkah, whose porous roof and temporary walls serve to remind us to stay open to the world.

Each month, we honor an interreligious hero. This April, Hebrew College Visiting Professor Rev. Rob Schenck honors Bishop Mariann Budde of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, who will receive an honorary doctorate from Hebrew College at our 2025 commencement ceremony.

The Right Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, DC, burst onto the national scene this past January. During the customary post-inauguration prayer service held at the National Cathedral, Bishop Mariann humbly implored the newly seated second-term president, Donald Trump, to have mercy on those afraid of his intended policies, which could place them at risk. She named LGBTQ+ folks and immigrants in particular.

This was during intensive week at Hebrew College, and my phone started bursting with texts, emails, calls, and alerts about my friend of more than seven years....

As you prepare to cast your vote in this historic and highly divisive presidential election, we invite you to pause and reflect on your values and commitments, and to give thanks for the opportunity to participate in this time-honored democratic rite. Before making your way to the voting booth — entering the closed quarters of this sacred space — you may wish to read Interfaith America’s collection of poetic reflections by individuals from different spiritual and ethical traditions, representing the diversity of our beloved nation. This collection of prayers was edited by Rabbi Or Rose and includes offerings from Miller Center staff Rev. Rob Schenck, rabbinic intern Rafi Ellenson, and former team member Rev. seigen johnson.

Five interfaith leaders across the U.S. from different spiritual and religious traditions write poetic reflections during this voting season.
