"In our personal and professional lives, we are constantly hit with one adversity after the other, most of which we have no control over. But the four things we have total control over is how we react, how we adapt, how we breathe, and how we take action."

💊 We're hosting a drop-off location for National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday. 💊

Come by the Law Enforcement Center, 120 E. Seventh St. in Newton, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. You can bring by medications you no longer need so we can properly dispose of them. It's completely free, no questions asked. This event helps us ensure prescriptions aren't lost, stolen or misused in our communities.

Drug Take Back Day is held each spring and fall. This will mark the 30th event all time. More than 10,000 tons of medications have been properly disposed of nationally through this effort.

Impact Story Time!

Kayla Ayres, who is Newton Outpatient Office Admin, also serves at the Person Centered Case Manager for the local Harvey County Recovery Court. In her role and partnership with the Recovery Court, Kayla is able to walk alongside those in the program, connecting them to resources and providing a safe space for recovery. As evidence of her unique impact, she was able to put together a diaper cake for an expecting mother going through Recovery Court.

Thank you, Kayla, for going above and beyond to change lives and cultivate hope with your work!

CCRT was blessed this week by the Safe Streets of Wichita with some CPR kits and Naloxone for administering First Aid to those who may be in desperate need of help at a moments notice. If you or someone you know would like to have one or both of these items, they are free to pick up at CCRT, 209 South Pine in Newton.

Wednesday evening, we celebrated Ian, our first Harvey County Recovery Court graduate of 2026.

Ian battled addiction for more than 30 years. As he became engrained in the recovery community, he found stability, becoming an advocate and mentor for others confronting their own paths forward.

"I've only made it this far with the people I now choose to have around me," Ian said. "I have found a sense of purpose, helping people with addiction and mental health problems. Little did they know they were helping me just as much in both areas."

Recovery Court provides program participants an avenue to address addiction and build a sustainable future. It partners the resources of healthcare, the judicial system, treatment providers and law enforcement. Recovery Court requires several months of increasingly more stringent accountability, while also offering encouragement and support through the process.

Ian has come a long way, graduating with no sanctions. He's done well to fortify his support system around him. Keep it up!
