Dear Churches and Friends in Jasper County, Illinois,
The Jasper County Honey Do Ministry is making plans for the 2026 Work Week. It is hoped that the Work Week will involve people from churches over the entire county.
If you are not familiar with the ministry, Honey Do Ministry is an effort by the churches of Jasper County to minister to individuals and families of Jasper County by providing workers and supplies to make repairs and improvements to homes of residents who are senior citizens, disabled, or low income. No large construction projects will be done.
At this time no major fundraising is needed. However, donations from individuals and churches will be gratefully accepted. The working budget is from $5,000 to $10,000. The number of projects that can be completed depends on the number of applications, the abilities of the work force, the costs of the projects, and the time needed to complete them.
It is not too early for individuals to plan to work during that week. The 2026 Work Week will be July 6-10. Workers may work for half a day, a few days, or the entire week. Help is always needed.
In order for us to line up the projects we will be doing, an application must be filled out and handed in. An application can be obtained at the ERBA office at 904 W. Jourdan St. in Newton or at The Master’s Hands Food Pantry at 106 S. Van Buren St. in Newton. A copy of the application can also be obtained at the Jasper County Honey Do Facebook site. Please see that any of your congregation or neighbors that you feel could benefit from our services gets an application. Feel free to copy it as neeeded. All applications need to be returned by June 1, 2026. Return to Quincy Vanderhoof, 305 E. Morgan St., Newton, Illinois, 62448, or drop them off at Master’s Hands or the ERBA office in Newton.
The Work Week is truly a way to put our Faith in action. Many times those who work with the project are as blessed as those for whom the work is done---sometimes even more.
If there are questions, call the number below. If you reach an answering machine, please leave a message. Messages will be forwarded and answered, if needed.
Yours in Christian Service,
Quincy Vanderhoof (618-783-3335)
