In the mid 1950s, Newton Memorial Hospital administration approached a bright group of civic leaders to replace the over-burdened hospital ambulance service. Today, the Newton First Aid Squad is requested to nearly 2,000 medical emergencies annually.

Another Fall EMT Class Begins! 🚑

Last night, five of our members officially began their journey toward becoming certified Emergency Medical Technicians! This is the beginning of a challenging road, but we couldn’t be more excited or incredibly impressed of each of them for stepping up and taking on this opportunity to serve our community.

There’s a lot of hard work ahead, but together, we know they’ll succeed. We’re looking forward to seeing them out on the road in early 2027, beginning Field Training and putting their skills to work helping people in their time of need.

To our newest EMT students: Good luck, guys and girls! You’ve got this!

We’re proud of you and can’t wait to see where this journey takes you!

Tonight is the National Night Out!

Come on down to Memory Park from now to 8pm and interact with all of the Newton community's public safety organizations as we put on demonstrations, answer questions, and hand out lots of free stuff!

Be sure to come find us for some ice cream! Try your hand(s) at our CPR kiosk! Tour our ambulance! Get some free stuff!

Today’s Meet a Member Monday is Ethan C!🚑

We have been so busy onboarding new members that Meet a Member Monday got away from us!

Ethan joined our department this past March and has spent lots of time driver training! When Ethan isn’t training with NFAS you might find him with friends bowling, lifting, or even on a moped! Ethan wants to be a doctor in the future and NFAS has been the perfect first step for him to reach his goal!

Today, members of Newton EMS are proud to be supporting the FIFA World Cup and representing Sussex County on the world stage by providing surge EMS coverage in the greater New York/New Jersey stadium area for the opening Group C match between Brazil and Morocco, kicking off at 6:00 PM.

Alongside agencies from across the state, our crews are strategically positioned at Secaucus Junction Rail Station and in Lyndhurst to assist the thousands of fans traveling to and from the match and to help support the regional EMS system during this major international event.

Newton EMS will be providing surge coverage with the NJ EMS Task Force for every FIFA World Cup match at the NYNJ Stadium, ensuring additional emergency medical resources are available throughout the tournament.

Good luck to all participating teams, and safe travels to the fans from around the world!

🚑 New Members Are Hitting the Streets of Newton Soon! 🚑

Tonight, EMT Gianna C., along with assistance from our assigned duty crew, is introducing our newest recruits, both adult members and cadets, to the ambulance and the equipment they will be using as part of their training.
Over the next several weeks, these new members will complete orientation and begin learning the skills needed to support our EMTs in serving the residents of Newton. Before long, they’ll be out on the streets helping provide emergency medical care to our community!

Please join us in wishing them the best of luck as they begin their journey with Newton EMS. We are excited to watch them progress through orientation and continue forward on the path toward becoming Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
