The Wily Network

The Wily Network provides a critical safety net for Scholars as they navigate college independently.

Wily Scholars bring unique experiences, challenges, strengths and goals to the college journey. Some have experienced homelessness or foster care, some have been denied family support due to their sexual orientation or gender identity, some have lost their parents, and some have family members dealing with addiction, mental illness or incarceration. All are talented and motivated, and all are brav

ing college on their own. Wily works to ensure Scholars have the tools and networks necessary to thrive in four-year residential colleges and transition successfully into post-college life.

Earlier this month, Wily’s Young Professional Network (YPN) hosted a summer gathering in downtown Boston. Joined by familiar and new faces, many folks came straight from the office to enjoy light bites, engage in meaningful conversations, and learn about the many ways to stay involved in Wily’s mission—from writing notes of encouragement for Scholars at the event to volunteering at upcoming programming like the Networking Expo.

The Pack’s all here!

Wily staff gathered together last week for team retreats and welcomed the start of our season with the School Year Kick Off event. Uniting the Pack for dynamic discussions on work wellness, our career journeys, unique strengths we all bring to the mission, and the vision for the year ahead. We also had a blast tapping into our artistic talents!

These moments of reflection, community, and joy remind us we are stronger together and help prepare us for the start of the new school year.

Each thoughtfully assembled package will go a long way in making Wily Scholars feel supported and excited before the school year begins. We are so appreciative of your generosity as these bundles also serve as a message of encouragement to Scholars to start off the semester strong!

Wily is growing, and it's time for a new office!

As our team and organization continue to expand, we're looking for a larger space. From volunteer events to brainstorming sessions to celebratory team lunches, we've loved being in our current office. Now we're hoping to find someone to sublease it!

Thank you to Deloitte for another incredible care package event and for showing up for Wily Scholars as they prepare to return to campus this fall.

Earlier this month, Deloitte volunteers once again partnered with The Wily Network to help set Scholars up for success in the semester ahead. Together, they assembled 40 care packages, donated 40 gift cards, and wrote heartfelt notes of encouragement for Scholars to receive as they head back to campus.

During the event, Executive Director Kenn Elmore shared more about Wily's mission and the importance of community support in helping Scholars navigate college independently. The care packages and personal messages serve as a reminder that our Scholars have a community cheering them on every step of the way.

We are deeply grateful for Deloitte's continued partnership and commitment to Wily Scholars. Thank you to every volunteer who dedicated their time, generosity, and encouragement to make this event possible.

This spring, we celebrated the largest graduating class in our history.

26 Scholars reached a milestone that deserves every ounce of recognition and celebration. And their success also reminds us of something larger: achievement is rarely an individual accomplishment. More often, it is the result of a community that chooses to show up, invest, encourage, and stay.

Thank you for helping create the kind of community where no one has to make the journey alone. Wily’s work wouldn’t be possible without the considerable effort of the entire Pack.

Wily celebrates Juneteenth, a holiday that honors freedom, resilience, and the ongoing pursuit of equity.

In honor of the day, Scholars joined Clinical Scholar Coach Melissa and Senior Director of Scholar Services Ine at the Roxbury International Film Festival, co-presented by Black Brown Boston and CineFest Latino Boston. The festival showcases powerful stories through film and highlights the voices and experiences of diverse communities.

Experiences like these reflect what makes the Pack so strong: a community enriched by different backgrounds, perspectives, and lived experiences. Together, we continue learning from one another and celebrating the diversity that strengthens us all.

Happy Pride Month!

Wily is proud to celebrate Pride this June. Earlier this month, Scholars came together for two Pride-themed events that fostered connection, creativity, and community.

Scholars attended a drag brunch, celebrating self-expression and joy, and gathered on Boston Common for an outdoor Pride t-shirt decorating event. Through tie-dyeing, coloring, stamping, and bedazzling, Scholars created custom shirts to wear at Boston's Pride Parade!

At Wily, we believe that every Scholar deserves to feel seen, supported, and celebrated. We're grateful for opportunities like these that bring our community together and celebrate the pride that makes the Pack stronger.

A heartfelt thank you to the community at Opus Newton for their generous donation of 30 spring exam care packages for Wily Scholars.

Filled with snacks, toiletries, gift cards, and so many thoughtful touches, these packages offered encouragement and support to Scholars during finals and graduation season. From handwritten notes to handmade crafts, the care behind every detail was deeply felt.

We’re incredibly grateful to Opus Newton for helping remind Wily Scholars that they are supported by a community cheering them on every step of the way.

What an incredible example of collective impact.

Thank you to 100 Women Who Care Boston for your generous support of Wily and for bringing together a community of women committed to making a difference. Through the power of collective giving, this group gave a generous gift in support of Wily Scholars.

Wily was honored to be included alongside such incredible organizations: Ovations ForThe Cure, The Max Warburg Courage Curriculum, and Women's Money Matters. Congratulations to Ovations for the Cure, recipient of 100 Women Who Care Boston’s second quarter collective donation.
