📢 Community Help Needed 📢

Lucy’s Pet Pantry is reaching out to our amazing community for assistance.

As many of you know, we recently expanded our space to better serve pets and families in need throughout Jasper County. Unfortunately, we have encountered a building requirement that must be addressed in order for us to continue utilizing this expansion space and providing the additional services our community has come to rely on.

To remain in the space, we need to install a drop ceiling. As a small grassroots nonprofit organization that operates almost entirely through donations and volunteer support, this project presents a significant financial challenge.

We are hoping to connect with individuals or businesses in the construction industry who may be willing to donate materials, labor, expertise, or a combination of all three to help us complete this project.

🐾 Expanding our pet food assistance program
🐾 Supporting our Neuter is Cuter spay/neuter initiative
🐾 Growing our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts

TEACHING EXCELLENCE. Dr. LeAnn Anderson, clinical assistant professor of veterinary clinical sciences, has been named the 2026 recipient of the College of Veterinary Medicine's SAVMA Teaching Excellence Award in Clinical Sciences. Anderson provides instruction to veterinary students through the Shelter Medical and Surgical Education program.

As for tonight - Several members of Lucy's Pet Pantry are currently suffering from a virus. We apologize but we will have to close this evening. We will keep you posted for our next open day.

Tiny paws. Innocent faces. A devoted mama doing everything she can. ❤️

This photo is exactly why Lucy’s Pet Pantry continues to fight so hard for affordable spay and neuter through our Neuter is Cuter Program.

These kittens did not ask to be born into uncertainty.

They did not ask for a difficult start in life, where food, shelter, medical care, and safety are never guaranteed.

And this loving mama cat?
She will now spend her life battling the heartbreaking realities that come with repeated litters and exposure to the outdoors — exhaustion, malnutrition, injury, and often devastating diseases that so many unaltered community cats face.

What looks sweet in a photo often hides a much harsher truth: More unwanted kittens.
More suffering.
More homeless cats.
More preventable illness.
This cycle can be stopped.

Spaying and neutering is not just a surgery — it is prevention, protection, and compassion.
