Today ends an era. The "now I know what my Mom felt like at my age" era. I will have no more days of understanding how she felt, what she thought, how she handled "my age". I have spent more time on this Earth than she was given.

Another pivotal moment in time that I wish I didn't have to experience. Another obligatory moment to remind the world to ALWAYS have a designated driver.

As many of you will spend your day making preparations for tomorrow's celebration, I would like to remind everyone to also take a few minutes to prepare for designated drivers. Have one or be one! Saving someone else's life can be THAT simple! My heart is so heavy for my fellow community members and friends who have so recently suffered great tragedies..... let's please make it a joint effort to help others remember that planning a ride home can avoid more tragedy.

Today, 15 years ago... I would have lived this day SO differently if I would have known how it was going to end... It is a day I will cherish forever yet it will haunt me until I draw my last breath.... It was the last day that I would have a Mother. It was the last day that I would have a Sister. It was the last day that I would have a super-special Niece named Lexi. It was the day that would end with a drunk driver destroying the comfortable little world that so many of us shared. It was the day that ended my chapter 1 and began my chapter 2. It is not the place in my story that I want to leave my bookmark. However, it is the part of my story that I wish to share with others ONLY in the hope that it changes someone else's.
