Wax On ~ Wax Off owned by Lonnie Gray, just moved his detailing business to NE Olive Street just east of Walgreen's. With these two large buildings, Wax On ~ Wax Off will be able to move their detailing work inside, out of the weather. We worked with Lonnie to design his attention grabbing banners for his new location. These full color banners are cheaper and quicker to produce than same sized painted signs that need routine replacing frequently due to our coastal weather. Call us today if we can help you.

Working on my front door as pictured here. Wondering if re-staining or painting with a good paint is the way to go. Do any of you have a suggestion which way I should go? It is a nice heavy door 42" wide and we would like to keep it. Must take the clear coat off regardless how we proceed. We welcome any suggestions.

City of Newport Engineer
Mr. Gross,

I know you have written me that you and your staff drive NE 31st frequently and watch for problems all the time. I know you are most likely busy all around town with problems but, I want to make sure you are aware of the current situation. Please see pictures attached. The first two pictures show the curbing has been either been pushed or slipping away from the roadbed. Pictures 3 & 4 I am attempting to get pictures of the widening and deepening crevasse running along the north side of this road. This crevasse has been growing for some time with no efforts being made to shore it up or somehow stop the sliding. The water easily now flows into this trench and cannot help but widen and deepen the divide. The 5th picture is of the crease in the road running west to east in the westbound lane. I have written you of these creases before with no obvious corrective action by the street department. I am just a civilian and not a road engineer but it seems to me that cracks like this, where there are numerous ones on this street as you have acknowledged in the past, if they were to be at least sealed with tar as needed to prevent water from flowing into the seam from time to time, the roadway may stand a better chance to survive through winter. Anything being done is better than nothing which cannot help but hasten the eventual slide to the bottom of the hill, again. So, if the side crevasse could be somehow fixed and these cracks somehow kept from getting worse through neglect, then this road might stand a better chance of surviving another year. The side curbing needs to be reattached or rebuilt as the rain water is just flowing down the side of the roadway now, which of course hastens the inevitable slide to the bottom of the gully. I am just pointing this out to you in case you have not noticed the problem in your multiple trips on this road. I thank you in advance for any effort you might make to protect this roadway to serve another day. Thank you

I just became aware of the new provision in Oregon Laws granting a substantial discount for veterans on State Medical Ma*****na Cards. With Veteran's day just ahead of us, I wanted to get this information out just in case eligible veterans in need of OMMP Cards are not aware of this discount to $20 from the previous $200 fee. Links provided below to a couple of articles on this subject along with a link to the State fees for reference. Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Current fee listing. Click on link and then scroll down to veteran fee: https://public.health.oregon.gov/DiseasesConditions/ChronicDisease/MedicalMa*****naProgram/Pages/OMMP-Fees.aspx

The Senate approves language co-sponsored by Oregon Sen. Jeff Merkley that would make it easier for veterans to use medical ma*****na in states where it is allowed.

Thanks to the good work of RaeAnn Pettett, our school bus company will be giving a stop at the top of our hill a try after all these back and forth emails. If I understand it right, they will stop and do a u-turn at the mouth of Lisi Place without actually turning into the cul-de-sac. A trial run will be made shortly and I am assuming if no problems show up the stop will be added. Just where the bus will actually stop remains a mystery. They will have to make their stop and turn before reaching the very top of the hill to take advantage of the space at the mouth of the cul-de-sac for the turn. I assume it will still be necessary for all the families with bus eligible children to properly fill in their bus requests during registration time in August to lock in the addition of this new stop. I hope this stop works out for all concerned.
