We wish we could sit down with every one of you and explain how much we need this place.

Agape is bursting at the seams. We’re doing everything we can in a small space, and every day we feel how much we’ve outgrown it. People come through our doors needing a meal, a shower, clean clothes, their mail, help finding housing, or someone willing to sit with them and figure out what comes next.

We make it work because our people need us. But it’s hard.

We know our current setup has been difficult for some of our neighbors, too. We hear those concerns. We want a space that works better for the people we serve and the community around us.

And now we have an opportunity that could change so much.

The new location has served the same population for years. It offers a private entrance, an actual bathroom our guests can use, and more room to provide the services people already depend on us for.

It also gives us the opportunity to offer five transitional beds for women. Five women who could have somewhere safe to stay while working toward their next step. I cannot tell you how much that means to us as a community.

But we have a deadline to raise these funds by January 1, 2027.

The number is big and the timeline is coming up fast, and we’ll be honest it feels overwhelming. But I also know what this space could mean for our people, and I have to ask for help. We cannot do this alone.

I see how hard our staff works. I see people keep trying when they have every reason to feel defeated. I see what we’re already doing with so little room, and I want so badly for us to have the space to do what is needed.

My heart is so heavy. Our community has lost two people within a week, and there are no words that make that hurt any less.

To our people who are struggling: please know we are here. Whether you’re ready for treatment, need detox, want to connect with a medication-assisted treatment (MAT) program, or simply need Narcan, please come talk to us. You don’t have to know where to start. We will walk alongside you and help connect you to the right resources.

Your life is worth the fight. Living with addiction is one hell of a battle, but you don’t have to battle alone. We love you. We see you. And we want nothing more than to see you live the life you’re meant to live.

Please stop in and talk to any one of our staff at Agape. You don’t have to wait until you have it all figured out, and you don’t have to be ready for treatment to ask for support. We will do everything we can to help you take that next step.

Please keep these families, friends, and everyone grieving in your prayers in the weeks ahead. They are carrying a pain no one should ever have to endure.

You don’t have to do this alone, we are here for you in anyway we can be.

We want to share a little clarity about Agape Respite Center, with care for both the people we serve and the community we are part of.
Agape is a day resource center. We help people meet basic needs, navigate services, and connect with housing programs and other resources. We do not have housing units, hold leases, or have authority to approve someone for housing. We can make referrals and help with the process, but each program makes its own decisions based on its requirements and availability. A referral is an opportunity to connect, not a guarantee of acceptance.
We also do not provide overnight shelter or have funding to pay for overnight accommodations. We understand how difficult that gap is, especially for someone with nowhere to go.
Since the beginning, Agape has had a 200-yard rule requiring those using our services not to remain or camp within that distance of our facility outside service hours. This boundary helps us care for our neighbors and protect our ability to keep serving. We know asking someone to leave does not solve their need for a safe place to sleep.
If we had the space, staffing, and funding to provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our hearts would be in it. Right now, we work hard just to sustain the daytime hours we offer.
It is difficult to meet so much need while also navigating concerns about our presence. Our hope is that greater understanding will help us work together. The people coming through our doors deserve compassion, our neighbors deserve to be heard, and our staff need community support to continue this work.
We welcome questions about our services, policies, and limitations. Please reach out directly,we are happy to explain what we can do and where we need help. We love this community, and we want to keep our doors open for the people who need us. 💛

Today was beautiful full of tears, laughter, good food, stories, and so much color, just like Autumn.

A huge thank-you to Siletz Sacred Ground Baptist Church for allowing us to use your speaker and microphone setup, and to the Oregon Coast Community College nursing team (Darby taking the lead on fundraising) for raising the funds that helped make today possible.

Thank you to our incredible Agape staff and every community partner who helped bring it all together. It truly took a village, and today that village showed up with so much love.

We cried, we laughed, we ate together, and we celebrated a life that will never be forgotten. Autumn, I hope you could see all the love and all the color surrounding you today. 💜✨

Friendly reminder Agape is closed in honor of Autumn Mayan we will be at Big creek park from 12-3 celebrating her with a bbq and stories of her time with us.

Autumn Mahan was the beautiful soul we lost last month come celebrate her life with us on
September 15th from 12–3pm at Reservoir Park, we’re coming together to celebrate Autumn’s life the way we think she would’ve loved with music, food, stories, laughter, and of course… GLITTER.

We’ll have biodegradable glitter bombs to pop off together and biodegradable balloons to send off in her memory. A little loud, a little sparkly, and full of love for a woman who mattered deeply to so many of us.

We also want to say THANK YOU to every single person who donated and helped us do something that was incredibly important to us bringing Autumn home to her family.

And an extra special thank you to the Oregon Coast Community College nursing students who came together and raised $1,000 toward bringing her home. The way this community showed up for Autumn and her family is something we will never forget.

At Agape, the people we serve become part of our family. When we lose one of our own, we feel it deeply. But we also believe their life deserves to be remembered for so much more than how it ended.

So come join us. Bring a story, bring a memory, bring your laughter and your tears.

Let’s fill that park with love, music, laughter and a whole lot of glitter for Autumn.
