Autumn Mahan was the beautiful soul we lost last month come celebrate her life with us on
September 15th from 12–3pm at Reservoir Park, we’re coming together to celebrate Autumn’s life the way we think she would’ve loved with music, food, stories, laughter, and of course… GLITTER.

We’ll have biodegradable glitter bombs to pop off together and biodegradable balloons to send off in her memory. A little loud, a little sparkly, and full of love for a woman who mattered deeply to so many of us.

We also want to say THANK YOU to every single person who donated and helped us do something that was incredibly important to us bringing Autumn home to her family.

And an extra special thank you to the Oregon Coast Community College nursing students who came together and raised $1,000 toward bringing her home. The way this community showed up for Autumn and her family is something we will never forget.

At Agape, the people we serve become part of our family. When we lose one of our own, we feel it deeply. But we also believe their life deserves to be remembered for so much more than how it ended.

So come join us. Bring a story, bring a memory, bring your laughter and your tears.

Let’s fill that park with love, music, laughter and a whole lot of glitter for Autumn.

September 15, 2026 12–3pm Reservoir Park Newport, Oregon

We will have help with rides if needed just reach out to us at 541-264-8060 if you need. Agape will be closed this day in honor of Autumn and will provide lunch at this location.

Our showers are officially back up and running FULL FORCE 🙌🚿❤️ and man are we thankful!!

A HUGE thank you to Lincoln County Housing Authority and their amazing team for helping make this happen. These showers are so much more than just a place to get clean. They provide dignity, comfort and a little reminder to the people we serve that they matter and are cared for.

And we absolutely have to thank the Community Shelter & Resource Center for stepping in and partnering with us while ours were down. Because of them, we were able to continue providing showers instead of simply having to say, “sorry, ours are closed.”

THIS is community. Organizations working together, filling the gaps for each other and making sure the people we serve don't fall through them.

We really can't express how grateful we are to live in a community where people continue to show up for one another.

Lincoln County, you are pretty dang special.

Thank you from all of us at Agape.

A little update for tomorrow

Thursday 8/27/2026

Agape will be closed for regular services tomorrow as we get our new shower doors installed Our showers will officially be ready to go Friday🙌

Since we’ll already have some work happening in the building, we’re taking the opportunity to have a staff meeting and give our entire space a good deep clean and reset.

We will still be handing out sack lunches tomorrow because we want to make sure everyone has access to a meal.

Thank you for understanding while we take the day to get everything fresh, clean and ready to welcome everyone back Friday with showers in our facility🤍🤗

Man our hearts are so full today
Come As UR came all the way to Newport for VACATION and reached out to us because they wanted to serve while they were here. Like who does that?! 😭
They came in, and are cooking enchiladas, giving out free haircuts today and just to love on our people. They showed kindness, compassion and dignity and simply showed up wanting to give back.
After everything this last week has held, this one hit our hearts a little different. To have people come into our community while they are literally on vacation and choose to spend their time serving others… just wow.
Come As UR, Agape and our people thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Seriously. Thank you for loving our people and reminding us there are some really really good humans out there.
This is what community looks like. People loving people from all over the states. 🥹🤍

Go down for free haircuts today and enchiladas that are made with love.

I honestly don't even know how to write this post.

This week we lost one of our own, and this one has hurt in a way that's hard to put into words. Our Agape family is hurting. Our community partners are hurting. The people we serve alongside her are hurting. She was known here. She was cared about here. She was loved here.

We have spent the last few days trying to figure out what comes next and were able to get in contact with her family in Texas.

And this is probably the hardest part of this post to write.

Her family wants her home. Her dad wants his daughter home. Her children deserve to have their mom home. But financially, they aren't able to make that happen right now.

We went back and forth about even making this post because asking our community for money is the last thing we want to do. We know everyone has their own families, their own bills and their own struggles.

But we also couldn't sit with knowing that she was here and the people who love her are in Texas, without at least trying to get her home.

So that's what we're going to try to do.

As Agape, we want to help cover the cost of her cremation and getting her home to her family. And we are humbly asking our community if you would help us.

Because she was a person we loved.

She was a daughter, She was a mom, a sister and friend….She was someone's family long before she ever became part of ours.

One of the hardest parts of doing this work is that you don't get to just provide a shower, a meal, clean clothes or a safe place and then somehow shut your heart off when the day is over. You get to know people. You notice when they're missing. You know when something isn't right. You watch them struggle, you watch them laugh, you watch them keep going, and you hope so badly that things are going to get better.

And sometimes you lose them.

Those are the days that remind us just how much this work costs your heart.

We can't change what happened. We can't give her family more time with her. We can't fix the heartbreak of losing someone you love.

But we can do this one thing.

We can bring her home!!!!!

If you would like to be part of helping us do that, please reach out to Agape directly. Donations can also be mailed to:
Agape Respite Center
357 SW 10th St.
Newport, OR

Please write “Compassion Cremation” in the memo.

With her family's blessing, we will also be holding a Celebration of Life here in our community. When those details are ready, we will share them.

I wish I didn't have to write this post. I wish there wasn't a reason for it.

But if there is one thing we want every single person who walks through Agape's doors to know, it's that your life matters here.

You are seen here.

You are loved here.

And if we lose you, we will feel it.

She will be deeply missed. And now we just want to do everything we can to get this beautiful soul home to her dad and her children.

If our community can help us do that, we will be forever grateful. ❤️

Please do not leave donations outside our building after hours.
Our donation drop-off hours are during our regular business hours only. We close at 3:00 PM, and any items left outside after that time are considered illegal dumping.
Our property is monitored by security cameras, and footage may be provided to local law enforcement when necessary.
We truly appreciate your generosity and your desire to support our community. Please help us by bringing donations during our scheduled drop-off hours so we can safely receive and distribute them to those in need.
Thank you for understanding and respecting our facility.

🎉 Great news!🎉

While our shower at Agape Respite Center are being replaced, our neighbors at the Lincoln County Community Shelter & Resource Center have stepped up for us in a way that truly means more than words can express.

They are generously sharing their facility with us so we don't have to pause this essential service. Our Agape staff will be on-site at their location 4 days a week, from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM to host shower hours for our guests.

📍 Where:

357 SW 7th Street, Newport, OR

🚿 Shower Details:

* Tuesday-Friday 10am-12pm
* One person at a time (10–15 minute slots)
* Towels and toiletries are provided!
* Just line up outside the entrance, and our Agape staff will be right there to assist you.

**We expect our own showers to be back in service after August 2nd🎉**

Buying individual shower passes was putting a severe strain on our budget, and facing a gap in care for our neighbors was heavy on our hearts. This partnership didn't just solve a huge logistical problem, it gave us a lifeline.

From the absolute bottom of our hearts, thank you to Karen Rockwell for connecting the dots, and to the entire team at the Lincoln County Community Shelter & Resource Center. Your open doors and willingness to link arms with us mean more to our staff and guests than you know. We are profoundly grateful for your kindness.
