Road To Independence

Road To Independence Offering empowering opportunities to individuals with differing abilities facilitated with donkeys! Please contact each location directly for scheduling.

We currently offer programming at both the farm and Aurora Bakery. Road To Independence, Inc. provides pre- vocational training for individuals with differing abilities through non-riding equine, horticultural, and agricultural programs and Aurora Bakery as well as similar pursuits instilling confidence and self-sufficiency. Through our program options, individuals with differing abilities learn

, practice and master life skills that build self-confidence and self-esteem. We see our pre- vocational training program as a starting point on the road to independence and a productive life within the community. In general, our programs increase communication and listening skills, as well as self-awareness in a farm setting with an emphasis on following proper procedures at a work site.

Playing a little catch up
With visits!! We had a wonderful afternoon on April 24 with students of all ages for Colby Sawyers Pet Therapy day. We visited with both college and Windy Hill students. It was Ike’s first off the farm visit. He was amazed that people just appeared from all directions around the Common. While he was a little unsure about getting back on the trailer, the quiet parking lot of the episcopal
Church proved to be the perfect spot for him to get back on! Phew!!
