Our Loud & Clear students brought their Civic Action Projects to the State House for Rhode Island Civics Day, hosted by Generation Citizen, where they shared their ideas with state legislators. One group of 8th grade students, led by social studies liaison Ms. Tara Mello, took home the award for top middle school project! 🏅

Their project , titled “Revitalizing Space for Family Friendly Activity Center,” explored ways to transform the empty site into an activated community space for families and residents in the North End. The students used the ethical interviewing skills they learned throughout the program to speak to Mayor Charlie Holder about the future of the vacant Newport Grand Casino property.

Proud moments like these exemplify how the Loud & Clear program is empowering students across Rhode Island to become engaged and responsible citizens.

An unforgettable night!
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our SOLD OUT sneak peek of Windblown: The Newport Bermuda Race! 🌊

What an incredible experience to fill the Jane Pickens Theater with our community to share this quintessentially Newport story. The audience, including many of the crew members seen on-screen, got an exclusive preview of the three-episode series showcasing visceral first-hand accounts of the 2024 race.

The evening closed with a riveting panel discussion moderated by Brad Read. He was joined by Benjamin Ringe, Scott Beer, Andrew Kallfelz, and Lydia Mullan, who spoke about the unique challenges of documenting the ocean crossing while prioritizing both safety and storytelling.

We’re immensely grateful for the generosity of our Premier Sponsors Eric Kirton of Lila Delman Compass and Latitude Yacht Brokerage. We were also joined by an amazing group of Community Partners doing important work in sailing and ocean conservation: U.S. Sailing, IYRS, Sail Newport, The Sailing Museum & National Sailing Hall of Fame, Conanicut Island Sailing Foundation, 11th Hour Racing, Eastern Rhode Island Conservation District, Marine Mammal Advisory Group, and the Newport Bermuda Race Foundation.

Huge thanks to all who joined us on Thursday at the Greenwich Odeum for our screening of Paralyzed By Hope: The Maria Bamford Story.

We laughed, cried, and then laughed some more as we followed Maria Bamford’s singular journey to becoming one of comedy’s most beloved stand-up acts. Maria’s candid approach to navigating her mental health, relationships, and fame allowed our audience to walk side-by-side with her through hardship and hilarity.

We’re especially grateful to our community partners, Women in Film & Video New England and Kismet Improv, for joining us at this event.

SOLD OUT! 👏 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us for Mary Oliver: Saved by the Beauty of the World. Seeing so many people come together in celebration of Mary’s work was truly special.

The energy inside the Casino Theatre was unforgettable - a room full of reflection, connection, and appreciation for the natural world.

We were proud to present this screening in partnership with Aquidneck Island Earth Week, and are especially grateful to Sara Poirier for her thoughtful opening remarks, echoing Mary’s work and reminding us of the importance of staying deeply connected to nature.

A huge thank you to our incredible Community Partners - Aquidneck Land Trust, Aquidneck Resilience, and Charter Books - for being on-site and sharing their important work.

And a special moment from the night: our Community Reading. Thank you to the three brave voices who stepped up to the mic to share their favorite Mary Oliver poems - a beautiful reminder of the power of her words.

A night of poetry, nature, and connection - just as Mary would have wanted.

Last week, we were honored to bring Lowland Kids to Rogers High School for our very first screening in their incredible new auditorium!

A huge thank you to the team at Rogers High School for welcoming us into such a beautiful space, and to the Rogers High School PTO for partnering with us and helping make the evening possible.

From the acoustic guitar performance by a Rogers student before the film, to the lobby filled with our wonderful community partners — Newport Public Education Foundation, Aquidneck Resilience, and Aquidneck Land Trust — the night was a true celebration of community.

We were especially grateful to share this moving film while supporting the Rogers High School Scholarship Fund. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
