I just found out that we have lost another one of our faithful members. Gary E. Parks passed away this past Monday. Prayers for the family.

Obituary for Gary Eugene Parks
Gary Eugene Parks, age 78, of Newport, TN, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center following an accident.
Eugene was born on July 6, 1946, to the late Roe and Carrie Henderson Parks in Newport, TN. In 1963, Eugene joined the U.S. Army and completed three tours of duty in Vietnam. Eugene was injured during those tours and was a double Purple Heart recipient. Eugene was also awarded the following: the Soldier’s Medal, three Bronze Stars, an Air Medal, an Army Commendation, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. After twenty years of service, in 1983, he retired from the Army and immediately went to work for Dugway Proving Ground in Utah, where he worked as a civilian contractor for the next 18 years. Eugene loved our country and was very proud of his service.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters (Mary, Edna, and Sarah), and three brothers (Dedrick, Ronnie, and Roger).
He is survived by his loving wife of ten years, Edith Williams Parks, two sisters (Maxine and Vernie), and one brother (James). Eugene had three daughters: Mary Catherine Goldsberry, Eugina Parks, Jennifer Collins (Bob), and one stepson, Chad Webb (Heather), along with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Eugene will be greatly missed by his family and friends and his precious Danny Boy whom he loved dearly.
The family will receive friends from 5 pm -7 pm Friday, September 27, 2024, with funeral service following at 7 pm in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with James Suggs officiating.
Burial will be held at 2 pm Saturday, September 28, 2024 in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, with Military Honors.

There will be a Quilts of Valor Fund Raiser Benefit Dinner, held at West End Baptist Church, Newport TN Feb 17, 2024, 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM . Meals are $12.00 each and will consist of Lasagna, Salad, Bread and Desert. Please come out and support this the Quilts of Valor ladies to help them support our veterans with making and presenting our veterans with handmade quilts
