The Company participated in Battery Day Commemoration at Conanicut Battery in Jamestown, RI. The biennial event honors those who fought in the Revolutionary War. In 1776, the Colonial government of Rhode Island built an earthen battery on Prospect Hill to guard the West Passage against the English fleet sailing into Narragansett Bay. The crescent-shaped earthworks were designed to house and protect eight heavy cannons and their men. After the fort was built, British and Hessian forces toook control of the earthworks form 1776-1779. When the British left Rhode Island, the French fleet manned the fort.
