Jennifer and Jennifer are spending the day investing in continuing education to better serve our Cocke County families! 🚗💙

As Child Passenger Safety Technicians with C5 and Newport Pediatrics, we’re getting hands-on with the latest car seats, learning updated safety guidelines, and finding new ways to support families in keeping their children safe on every ride.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to keep growing so we can continue providing the best, most up-to-date care and education for our community!

Such a wonderful day!

We hope everyone takes advantage of this fantastic project to visit local businesses that are supporting literacy programs and build a home library! You can begin at any of our four community libraries- Marie Ellison Memorial Library, Cosby Lib, Parrottsville Community Library, and Stokely Memorial Library.

One of our valued community partners! We cannot say enough how valuable early childhood education is to setting a firm foundation for learning.

Don’t pay for childcare!! Our Pre-K is FREE for qualified families.
Send your child to our Pre-K, preparing them for kindergarten, all while they learn from licensed TN educators.

Get your application in today! We accept applications until we hit capacity!

NGS's Voluntary Pre-K (VPK) Program is taking applications for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. The current application can be picked up during the day from the office and is also available on my teacher page: https://newportgrammar.schoolinsites.com/erica-jones

If interested, all paperwork can either be dropped off at the school office during normal hours or mailed to:
Newport Grammar School
ATTN: Pre-K, Erica Jones/Christina Leas

This program is not a "first come, first served" program. Our program gives income-eligible four-year-olds priority first.
Any/all 3-5 year olds are encouraged to apply, as some exceptions are allowed for waitlist/enrollment.
Age is considered based off the age of the child by August 15th of the school year they are applying for enrollment.

If you have any questions, please contact Erica Jones, VPK Director, by calling (423) 613-1936, text only @ (423) 415-2968, or email at [email protected]

Cocke County families will be receiving books this summer thanks to the support of the Governor's Early Literacy Foundation. They are such amazing partners! Send us some cool pictures of you and your kiddos enjoying these books this summer.

Across Tennessee, K-3 Home Library bookpacks are beginning to arrive at the homes of rising 1st-3rd grade students in participating districts, and we couldn’t be more excited for the summer reading ahead. 📚☀️

Each bookpack includes six books that students can add to their home libraries, along with grade-level activity sheets designed to help families keep reading and learning all summer long.

We can’t wait to see Tennessee students dive into new stories, build confidence as readers, and create fun reading moments at home this summer.
