🚚 RIP: Box Truck 🚚
Wait for it... you’ll see just how much damage our beloved box truck took as it makes its final exit.
Today we say goodbye to a THRIVE legend.
From January 2024 until last month, this truck was a true workhorse. Nearly every day, it traveled the Peninsula picking up food donations from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank, Food Lion, and many other generous partners. Thanks to its countless miles on the road, volunteers were able to stock The Market at THRIVE and provide food to neighbors facing difficult times.
During its service, this truck helped move more than 2 million pounds of food, helping us provide groceries to approximately 100,000 people across the Virginia Peninsula! Wow!
What makes this goodbye even harder is that this truck was the first vehicle THIRVE ever owned. It was a gift from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and it represented trust, growth, and possibility for more!
Rest in peace, Box Truck. You served our community well, and you'll always have a special place in THRIVE history. ❤️
The good news? THRIVE has remained fully operational since the dreaded tree incident. Our rental truck has been working hard to keep food moving, and we expect to receive insurance funds soon - then we will be ready to buy a replacement. We're hopeful that a refrigerated box truck currently located in North Carolina will become the next chapter in this story, allowing us to transport even more fresh and healthy food to local families.
Until then, thank you for the memories, the miles, and the millions of pounds of food you helped deliver.
Gone, but never forgotten. 🚚💚
