Knocking, Knocking, Knocking for Victory

Members of Local 8888 joined other pumped up union volunteers who flooded the streets of Norfolk today to get the vote out in the critical Virginia elections next Tuesday, Nov. 4. Local 8888 President Charles Spivey, spearheaded the labor operation in Norfolk, a key battleground city. President Spivey told the volunteers, "The eyes of the nation ate watching Virginia. Let's show them the union vote will be strong for candidates who support our working families, especially those hurt by the government shutdown and soaring prices.

Sen. Tim Kaine stopped by to thank the union volunteers for working so hard to turn out Union voters in Norfolk and across the state. "Person-to-person is what, at the end of the day, wins elections. I've seen it in all my races and that will be the case between now and Tuesday."

President Spivey thanked all of the Local 8888 volunteers who have been phone banking and door-knocking relentlessly for the past several weeks. "This election has left no doubt that the Steelworkers are a powerful force in deciding who's going to lead Virginia."
