We manage, operate and help create community gardens that will help facilitate a food network for those in food insecure areas. We teach you how to combat food insecurity within your community. we offer classes on gardening, food preservation, STEM in agriculture and healthy living. VDACS is now accepting applications for the 2024 Beehive Distribution Program. Virginia residents age 18 or older can apply for free equipment for assembling new beehives. Recipients will be selected at random from qualifying applications received during the application period, which runs until Sept. 6.

Recipients of beehive units must assemble the equipment and occupy it with a colony of honey bees within one year of receiving the equipment. VDACS does not provide honey bees or equipment for managing the hives, such as personal safety equipment or honey processing equipment.
