Honoring Women Who Dare to Dream and Live Out Beauty

The idea of Imperishable Beauty was conceived over the span of many months through much prayer, study of Scripture, journaling and endless discussions with close friends and family. We began to ask ourselves, what does it mean to live like and for Christ as women in our world today?

It’s hard to know for certain because as women, we are bombarded daily through our social media feeds, magazines, and TV shows or movies with images of “pretty women” that seem to have it all and do it all. The pressures of these outside, worldly influences can be insurmountable as a spirit of comparison swallows us whole. After all, most women have such a deep desire for beauty and to create beautiful things and spaces that are not only pleasing to the eye but sings to the soul.

It was in this place of pondering and stillness that two scriptures jumped off the pages for us:

“But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.” ~ 1 Peter 3:3-4

and

“…the virtuous will see your face.” ~ Psalm 11:7

In that moment, we realized it was time to return to the heavenly and timeless virtues (moral excellence) of character: gentleness, quietness, trust, goodness, prudence, justice, and courage, to name a few. In so doing, we felt like we might be onto something, an idea that would truly help women, the young and mature alike, discover that their beauty stems from a heart of faith and passion consecrated in virtue.

But we knew that virtue is a non-topic these days. It’s something that isn’t discussed, exemplified or even pursued. We simply live in a time where we place more value on our appearance and performance than anything else. Meanwhile, countless women trapped in this realm go unnoticed or beat themselves up as not being enough.

It’s for these women that we want to say, “Stop and rest awhile.” We want to inspire and empower women from all walks of life to embrace a kind of beauty that lasts forever, a beauty that is only seen in secret, in the mundane, in the every day. A beauty that is built on quietness and gentleness that is of greater value than any treasure on earth. A beauty that rises to the call of obedience, influence and purpose to transform the world in the name of Jesus Christ.

It is our hope that through storytelling, advocacy, education, and inspirational products, women will discover their place in the world and connect to the heart of God and each other as they come with us on the journey of redefining beauty as we know it.
