Established in 1976 by PAUL SALATA, a former NFL player and Southern California businessman, Irrelevant Week was created to celebrate the efforts of the last pick of the NFL Draft, "Mr. The week-long celebration has given “Mr. Irrelevant” the chance to be featured on the NFL Network and Fox Sports, be a part of the annual Newport Beach Balboa Island Parade as well as visit Disneyland. eek is cornerstoned by the Honorary Lowsman Banquet, featuring the Lowsman Trophy. With the help of the NFL and local Orange County businesses, Irrelevant Week has been able to create a love for the “underdog” all while benefiting and supporting local charities and student-athlete scholarships.
