Last year’s glam squad helping our dancers get performance-ready ✨💄🩰

As we prepare for this year’s Onco-Ballet Community Performance at Irvine Barclay, we’re looking for volunteer makeup artists to join us and help our dancers feel their best before they take the stage.

Our performers are cancer survivors, thrivers, and patients coming together for an evening of movement, community, and joy. 💗

Registration is now open for our 2026 Onco-Ballet NYC Fall Series!

Join us for six Sundays of movement, connection, and community from September 13 through October 25 at OpenJar Studios.

Please note: no class on October 18.

No ballet or dance experience is necessary. 💗

Movement can be so much more than movement. 🩰

During our NYC Community Performance panel, Dr. Allison Applebaum spoke about the way our bodies can carry anxiety, depression, trauma, and grief—and how moving them can sometimes help us feel a little lighter, even if only for a moment.

That is so much of what Onco-Ballet is about: creating space to move through what we’re carrying, reconnect with our bodies, and do it alongside people who understand. 💗

No perfection required. Just movement, community, and room to feel whatever is there.

Calling all dancers in the cancer community! 🩰✨

Live outside of Southern California? You can still join us onstage for our 2026 Onco-Ballet Community Performance. 🦢

Our Virtual Dancer Ensemble will learn choreography together through virtual rehearsals before coming together in Irvine, California to rehearse and perform at the Irvine Barclay Theatre on October 17, 2026.

No prior ballet or performance experience is necessary. Whether you’ve danced for years or have never stepped into a ballet class before, you are welcome here. ✨

Virtual rehearsals begin August 13 and take place Thursday evenings via Zoom, with in-person rehearsals beginning October 14 in Irvine.

Registration is limited to 50 dancers and is first come, first served.

Please note: Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses to Southern California, and financial assistance for travel is not available this year.

Sometimes the most comforting reminder is that two things can be true at once.

During our NYC Community Performance panel discussion, Andrea Nwoke reflected on the reality of survivorship—that gratitude and uncertainty can coexist. Joy and grief can coexist. Healing and hard days can coexist.

At Onco-Ballet, we witness that every week in the studio. Through dance and community, we create space for every part of the journey. 💗
