ACTION STEPS

As you diversify, I encourage you to put a ceiling on the percentage of capital you invest in each asset class. I will concede that my portfolio is heavy with real estate because it is the asset class where I have the most experience. This is why it’s important for me to track and stay on top of my investments in an Asset Return Report.

True or False? Real Estate produces a good inflation hedge.

Answer: True

Real estate has a long-standing history of keeping up with and exceeding inflation – an important factor to consider when investing for the long run. If your investment only produces an after-tax return that is consistent with inflation, you haven’t increased your buying power at all. Your assets may have gone up, but you haven’t increased your buying power. Real estate though has generally always exceeded the inflation factor and as an additional bonus is when there is real inflation, rents generally follow. Therefore, real estate produces a good inflation hedge.

Refinance Tax Free 💸💰🏠
Although real estate is generally complicated from a tax standpoint it does have several advantages. One strategy instead of a traditional sale is to complete a 1031 tax-deferred exchange, reinvest the proceeds, and keep your dollars earned – as opposed to selling and paying tax. If you do a tax-deferred, 100% of your investment is still earning a return instead of just the after-tax portion.

No matter what your passion, there are opportunities for you to support and improve your community. Get out there and volunteer!

“This life is about producing with your gifts – not hoarding. Hoarding results in zero growth of what you’ve been given, whether that be a talent or the things that derive from that talent. God wants growth within His kingdom. The gifts He gives are not separated between kingdom gifts and worldly gifts – what makes you successful in this world, whether it’s business, finance, etc. – those same gifts are the bedrock of what you’re able to contribute to God’s kingdom.” - Paul Neff

How has Paul's mentoring impacted the lives of his mentees?

Read this testimonial from Jason P.

"In my life I had mentors in business (President’s and VP’s) and mentors at Church (i.e. Pastors and my Dad), but rarely a combined perspective. I felt my unique challenges of being a follower of Jesus Christ, Husband, Dad with young kids, and business owner may not be relatable to others. I was praying for more Paul’s in my life who had walked this road successfully. It’s not easy to find a Paul as the leader taking on this role pour’s a significant investment of time into other’s lives. Paul’s ministry is meeting this need, providing community with other Christian entrepreneurs who are in the same season of life. God uses this ministry to have “Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens a friend's character.” Proverbs 27:17

The journey over a year has been very impactful, I now have a binder of resources on life topics from Paul’s life lessons founded on biblical principles, Paul helped us to create habits of being intentional monthly to get in community, and gaining lifelong Christian business owner friends. I have been blessed, and thankful." - Jason P.

“Over the years, Kathy and I have received many requests from friends and mentees to share information about the ministries Servant’s Heart foundation supports.

It has been important to us to choose organizations that we see being efficient and effective stewards of the resources they have been entrusted with. It has been our honor to work closely with each ministry’s leadership and witness firsthand the great Kingdom impact they are having.

We are glad to share these organizations with you on the Servant’s Heart blog, found at https://www.servantsheartblog.org and also read the Generosity blog on PaulsLifeLessons.com to learn more about how and when to give.” - Paul Neff

“Servant’s Heart is our family foundation that was founded in 1992 by Paul and Kathy Neff.

Our primary focus is providing financial and mentoring support to Christian ministries around the world. Our main giving focus are ministries that specialize in one or more of the following areas:

1. Holistic ministries - serving the poor and needy by providing/meeting their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs; with an emphasis on teaching them to fish versus providing fish.
2. Evangelism
3. Leadership development - a focus on educating, equipping, encouraging, and protecting pastors and Christian leaders around the world.

An absolute match for us is when our financial gift will not only meet the need of the intended focus, but will strengthen the local church at the same time. We believe God has been, and continues to change the world through the local church; therefore, it is highly favorable any time our gift can either go through or strengthen the local church.” - Paul Neff
