Did you ever pour a perfect pint from a keg or a bottle and the head looks great, the beer tastes great and fully carbonated but there is are no bubbles rising through the beer?
Your beer is probably perfect. Your glass is probably perfectly clean. For bubbles to rise you need “nucleation sites” for the co2 to latch onto and release from solution.
Many bars and breweries use special glasses with laser etching which release the bubbles.
For a test you can put just a few grains of salt in your beer. Watch those bubbles take off!
After cleaning you can also use a paper towel to dry your glasses which will leave tiny fibers on the glass resulting in that classic carbonated glass of beer look after a pour.
Who knew?
