***ReStart Coweta Need** HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Many people reach out to ask how they can help those experiencing homelessness or how they can support ReStart Coweta. Today, I’d like to share a story—and an opportunity to be part of a success story.
Two years ago, during our annual homeless count, I met a young man who had been experiencing homelessness for several years. He is kind, respectful, and deeply connected to our community. After his mother, who had been his caregiver, passed away, he found himself without stable housing. Although he cannot read, he is capable of caring for himself and was determined to remain in the community he calls home.
Since then, our ReStart Coweta case manager has worked tirelessly alongside him and was able to secure an emergency housing voucher and other assistance. Today, I’m thrilled to share that he has his own apartment.
Through donations and support from our thrift store, we’ve been able to gather many of the items he needs to furnish his new home. The remaining challenge is getting everything moved into his apartment, which is located on the third floor. Better Way Movers has generously agreed to reduce their fee by 50% and will complete the move for just $300, including large items such as a washer, dryer, recliner, and coffee table.
As we prepare for our first major fundraiser, I wanted to share this immediate need. If you would like to sponsor all or part of this moving expense, we would be honored to provide a receipt for your charitable contribution. More importantly, you would be helping a young man take the final step from homelessness into a home of his own.
