A flu shot is a small thing. Getting to one isn’t always.

Last Tuesday, Walgreens set up at 36 Salbide Avenue and gave free flu shots to anyone who walked in. No appointment. No insurance card. No drive across town.

For a lot of people we serve, that’s the difference between getting one and not.

Thank you, Walgreens, for bringing it to us. And thank you to the pharmacists who spent the day here.

The raffle table at the Ride was full because of these people.

Twenty-four local businesses and neighbors gave something to the 8th Annual Ride For Recovery. Gift cards, tickets, bikes, books, chocolate, a night out, a float, a hotel stay. Every one of those went home with a rider and turned into money for recovery support here in Coweta County.

None of them had to say yes. They did anyway.

Last Wednesday, LaGrange showed up for National Night Out, and so did we.

National Night Out is a free event put on by the LaGrange Police . Neighbors, families, officers, and local groups all in one place, getting to know each other outside of a bad day.

Lauren and Billie Jane set up the F.O.R. Troup tent. If you stopped by, grabbed a bracelet, scanned the code, or asked a question, thank you. That’s the whole point of a night like this. People find out help is close before they need it.

Thank you to the LaGrange Police Department for hosting, to Mayor Jim Arrington for coming out, and to our partners at the Georgia Department of Community Supervision for standing with us.

Anna just finished CARES Academy 86 through the Georgia Council for Recovery and Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities . CARES stands for Certified Addiction Recovery Empowerment Specialist. It’s a training for people who’ve walked the road themselves and want to help others walk it.

That’s the whole idea behind peer support. The person sitting across from you has been where you are. Anna already does that work. Now she has the training to go with it.

We’re proud of her. If you’ve ever thought your own story could help someone else, this is one way to make that real. Ask us about it.

Over 100 people came to Newnan City Hall on September 9 to sign a bus.

That’s how Recovery Month started here. The Georgia Recovers bus rolled into town with Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities and the Georgia Council for Recovery , and Shepherd For Newnan read a proclamation naming September National Recovery Month in Newnan. The Coweta County Commissioners did the same.

Hank wanted to say thank you himself. To everyone in recovery who showed up. To the families. To the people who aren’t in recovery but believe in it anyway. And to the city and county leaders who put it on the record.

When your mayor and your commissioners say recovery matters, it gets easier for someone to walk through our door.

Two of our own were asked to speak at The Carter Center.

On September 23, JJ Durrough and Katie O’Neal represented Coweta FORCE and F.O.R. Troup at the 2026 FORE All-Grantee Meeting. FORE is the Foundation for Opioid Response Efforts. Every year it brings together the organizations it funds from across the country to compare notes and sharpen the work.

JJ sat on the “Welcome to Georgia” panel with Brian Kite of the Georgia Council for Recovery , Rob Bohler of Georgia Southern University , and Wendy Tiegreen of Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities , and talked about what we’re building in Newnan and LaGrange.

Katie presented on our PEPA program and what peer support is doing inside juvenile dependency court. FORE was the first funder to say yes to PEPA. It exists because they believed in it early.

The Georgia Recovers bus stopped by too, so people from all over the country got to sign it.

Being in that room means the work here matters past Coweta County. Thank you, FORE, for the invitation and for betting on us.

🔥Amanda just earned her Recovery Residence Associate Certification facilitated by Georgia Association of Recovery Residences. That’s training in how to run a recovery home the right way. Safe, structured, and built around the people living there.

🏡 Housing is one of the hardest parts of early recovery. A bed somewhere isn’t enough. People need a place with guidelines that make sense and staff who understand what they’re going through. That’s the work Amanda does, and now she has the credential to go with it.

If someone you love is struggling, there’s a meeting here for you too.

Nar-Anon on Monday. Al-Anon on Wednesday. Adult Children of Alcoholics three times a week. You don’t need to be in recovery to walk in. You just need to be tired of carrying it alone.

Here’s the full two weeks at both locations.

his is the team you'll meet when you walk in.

We spent an afternoon at Lock City Adventures - Newnan trying to get out of a locked room together. We made it, with a little arguing over clues.

The work we do is heavy some days. Days like this are how we stay a team, and a team is what people need on the other side of the front desk. Not a waiting room. People who know each other, trust each other, and show up.
