Do you have what it takes to build the greatest gingerbread house in Coweta County? The Newnan-Coweta Habitat for Humanity is hosting its 10th annual Great Gingerbread Build and Marketplace at the Newnan Historic Train Depot at 60 East Broad Street on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 1 to 4:30pm.
A family-friendly competition, this timed and judged gingerbread building contest will include registered teams. Each team will be provided with a gingerbread kit, if needed, and is encouraged to bring EDIBLE decorations to make their house stand out.
Building materials will be provided as well but if you want to add your own, here are some ideas.
Possible add ons …Powdered Sugar–snow, you know
Ice Cream Cones–trees, maybe some turrets
Candy Canes – maybe fence, street lamps
Nuts - roofiing matieral
Pretzel Rods - logs or firewood
Graham Crackers - most any structure support
M&Ms - for snacking
Teams will be given a one hour to complete an entirely edible, self-standing gingerbread house. But beware! No building is complete without obstacles. The Grinch has wrecked havoc on construction efforts with building citations and unforeseen delays. Will his antics impact your family-friendly fun? (all houses must be constructed at the event.)
Participants will enjoy hot chocolate and c***r stations, Christmas cookie decorating, pictures with Santa and more! And the Marketplace - holiday shopping.
Awards will be given. Proceeds from this fun, family-friendly event will help Cowetans in need of affordable housing or critical home repairs.
