Brown's Mill Battlefield Association This site is dedicated to the Confederate and Union cavalrymen who fought and died here on July 30, 1864, and to the medical staff who tended the wounded.

The Brown's Mill Battlefield Association supports this historic site that opened almost 149 years to the day that Union Soldiers under General Edward M. McCook, marching from Atlanta toward Macon, were defeated by General Joseph Wheeler's Confederate cavalry which had ridden south from Decatur. t Atlanta's vital supply lines open. But more than that, the Battle of Brown's Mill changed the course of the Atlanta campaign. It forced Sherman to abandon his efforts to use cavalry to cut Atlanta's railroads and compelled him to begin a lengthy siege, the very thing he had hoped to avoid.
