Meals On Wheels of Coweta Meals On Wheels Of Coweta (MOWOC) is a non-profit community supported organization that receives no funding from local, state or federal agencies.

MOWOC applies for grants that are offered through United Way and Meals On Wheels Association of America to subsidize private donations. MOWOC hosts fundraisers throughout the year to raise awareness, recruit volunteers and raise money to support and grow the organization. MOWOC's ongoing goal is to serve more clients and create more programs that promote independent living for older residents of C

oweta County, those 60 and up. Statistics show that 37% of people over 65 live alone. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, nearly one in four of these people skip at least one meal a day due to lack of money. The number of senior citizens seeking help from local food banks and church food pantries in the U.S. has increased 81 percent in the past three years, according to the U.S.D.A. It takes money and volunteers to do what MOWOC does. MOWOC volunteers donate over 10,000 service hours annually to the elder citizens of Coweta County. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. The three sources of income (grants, private donations and fundraisers) are also critical to MOWOC's success. One without the other simply does not work...MOWOC must have both money and people to succeed. MOWOC currently has a waiting list of requests to add more clients and the is working to optimize the program and expand the routes to reach more homes. Coweta County depends on MOWOC to meet the nutritional needs of its elder citizens and MOWOC's goal is to do just that.

The Kiwanis Coweta County Fair will be held at the Coweta County Fairgrounds from September 18-28th. This 10-day event will generate proceeds that will benefit our community's charitable organizations.
The Kiwanis grant allowed us to purchase a new freezer. It has significantly boosted our meal preparation capabilities. We are very thankful.
