💙 A great night with our Coweta County community!
Drug Free Coweta enjoyed being part of National Night Out and spending time with the people who help make our community a safer place to live, work, and raise families.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with local law enforcement, meet community members, and share resources that help families keep their homes safe.

We also shared information about the upcoming DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 24 and provided free medication lockboxes to encourage safe storage and help keep medications out of the wrong hands.

A special thank you to our local law enforcement agencies and everyone who helped bring the community together!

Prevention is not only about stopping substance use before it starts. It is also about helping people recognize risks early, understand when people may need support, and know where to turn for help.

When treatment is needed, no single approach works for everyone. The type of treatment, level of care, and setting may look different from person to person and may change as their needs change.

Learning about treatment is part of prevention, too. The more families and communities understand available options, the better prepared they are to respond early and connect someone with the right support.

With severe weather expected this weekend, please take a little time to prepare now rather than waiting until the last minute. ❤️

Make sure you have drinking water, nonperishable food, medications, flashlights, batteries, and a charged phone or power bank. Bring in or secure anything outside that could blow away, and have a safe place in mind in case of a tornado warning.

Don't forget about your pets, and please check on elderly neighbors, family members, or anyone who might need extra help.

Most importantly, stay informed, avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather, and never drive through flooded roads.

A little preparation today can make a big difference when an emergency happens.

Thank you, Northgate High School, for inviting Drug Free Coweta to be part of the Homecoming opening celebration.

We had a great time connecting with students and parents, sharing prevention information, and kicking off our Red Ribbon Week theme, Superheroes.

During the event, we provided free medicine lock boxes to individuals and families who needed them. One of the most meaningful moments was hearing students request lock boxes to help protect their younger siblings. We were very proud to see young people thinking about prevention, safety, and their families' well-being.

It was also great to see so many students wearing temporary Drug Free tattoos and showing their support for healthy choices.

Thank you again to Northgate High School for welcoming us and for the opportunity to connect with students, families, and the community. Strong prevention work is built on awareness, relationships, and people looking out for one another. ❤️

As we enter the final quarter of the year and a season of appreciation and gratitude, we had a special opportunity today to recognize one of our longtime community partners, Coweta F.O.R.C.E.

Following our monthly Drug Free Coweta coalition meeting, we presented Coweta F.O.R.C.E. with an award as a small way of saying a BIG thank you for their continued partnership, support, and commitment to the Coweta County community.

Strong prevention work is built through strong partnerships. We are grateful to work alongside organizations that support youth, families, recovery, and healthier communities.

Thank you, Coweta FORCE / Friends of Recovery Troup for continuing to show up, collaborate, and make a difference in Coweta County. 💙

Let's talk about how to save a life - Naloxone
Naloxone is a medication that can quickly reverse an opioid overdose, giving someone precious time to get emergency help.
You do not need to be a medical professional to carry naloxone or learn to use it. Knowing the signs of an overdose and being prepared to respond could make all the difference.
