Our shelves are filling faster than our volunteer roster!
Over the past two months alone, the Coweta County Genealogical Society has received more than 300 donated books, family files, and genealogies from generous researchers and families who want to preserve their history.
Every single donation is important.
๐ Every book must be evaluated for genealogical value.
๐ Every family file must be carefully sorted and organized.
๐ Every genealogy must be logged and cataloged.
And thatโs just one part of what our volunteers are doing.
Weโre also:
โข Updating the inventory of our 15,000+ book library
โข Building a searchable online catalog
โข Planning our upcoming book sale
โข Assisting researchers from across the country
โข Helping visitors in our library
โข Working on preservation and indexing projects
โข Conducting our own research projects that benefit the genealogy community
The opportunities are endlessโฆ but our volunteer team is small.
If youโve ever considered volunteering with CCGS, this is the perfect time. Whether you can give a few hours a month or one day each week, your time would make a real difference.
You donโt need to be an experienced genealogist! Everyone starts somewhere and weโll happily teach you!!!
Together, we can preserve the stories of yesterday for the generations of tomorrow.
๐ณInterested? Send us a message or stop by the library. Weโd love to meet you!
