Today, we proudly celebrate five extraordinary classified employees whose dedication, perseverance, and unwavering commitment have left a lasting mark on our schools and our community.

For years, you have been the steady hands and caring hearts behind the daily success of our campuses. Through early mornings, long days, challenges, and triumphs, you showed up with purpose, pride, and an incredible work ethic. Your work may not always have been in the spotlight, but its impact has been felt in every classroom, office, cafeteria, playground, and hallway.

You helped create safe, welcoming, and supportive environments where students could learn, teachers could teach, and schools could thrive. That is a legacy worth celebrating.

Retirement is not simply the closing of a chapter β€” it is the well-earned reward for years of service, sacrifice, and dedication. Today, we honor not only what you have done, but who you have been to this district: dependable, compassionate, resilient, and truly invaluable.

Thank you for the difference you made every single day. Your contributions will not be forgotten, and your legacy will continue to inspire those who follow in your footsteps. Congratulations on your retirement, and may this next chapter bring you joy, peace, adventure, and all the happiness you so greatly deserve.

πŸ† Please join us in congratulating:
β€’Jose Leon from M&O who dedicated 38 years of service.
β€’Guadalupe (Lupe) Rodriguez from the DO with 33 years of service.
β€’Ofelia Brown from YMS with 27 years of service.
β€’Crysterlyn Bryant-McDonald with 12 years of service.
β€’Brenda Spiller from VR with 11 years of service.

πŸŒŸπŸ† This year we are excited to announce Jeremy Panelli as our Unsung Hero. If you know Jeremy, you know what a dedicated and humble Campus Supervisor he is. You also know what a great asset he is to our Chapter and our District because of him we are better together. What truly defines Jeremy are his core values. He stands up for others in the name of justice, whether speaking as a delegate at conference or advocating at board meetings during layoffs. His huge heart allows him to connect with students who need that extra support. Don’t let his funny, caring, and easygoing demeanor fool youβ€”Jeremy is someone you can count on at all times, whether supporting students or cohosting Dungeons and Dragons with the Warriors and Wizardly Club.

Jeremy is an activist, mentor, advisor, and leader. Through NAMI, he has been a strong advocate for mental health since 2020, helping organize biannual blood drives with the Red Cross alongside Britney Clark. As of March 27th, he has contributed to over 400 units of blood donated since November 2022β€”efforts that also generate scholarship funds for our students.

He also supports the career and apprenticeship expo, reaching about 2,000 students this year, and helped establish and maintain a β€œNeed Shelf” and food pantry where students can access essentials without question. He serves as a judge for the Stanislaus County Occupational Olympics, chaperones trips, and stands in solidarity with fellow unions. Please join us in congratulating Jeremy Panelli as our very deserving Unsung Hero! πŸŽ‰πŸ’™πŸ’›πŸ‘πŸΌ

πŸ’™πŸ‘»πŸ’› We want to express our total and complete gratitude to everyone that supported our participation in this year’s downtown Trunk-or-Treat. Your generosity whether in donating candies, decorating and painting the props, setting-up or handing out candies made a great and positive impact with the children and families in our community. A few of us can’t make it happen but with all of us pitching in we can! Thank you to all of you, the smiles and memories you helped create will live on longer than just that one day. It’s because they matter to us that we do what we do day in and out from before the sun rises till long after it sets. Knowing we’re a part of something bigger than us unites us more and strengthens us as Chapter 551! πŸ’™πŸŽƒπŸ’›

πŸ‘» Check out some of our members as they joined in the fun during the day at their schools πŸŽƒ

πŸ’™πŸ‘»πŸ’›πŸŽƒThis year, we're excited to continue our tradition of spreading joy to the children in our community by participating in Newman's Trunk-or-Treat as Scooby Doo's Mystery Machine. This fun event is a wonderful opportunity to connect with our members and their families, and share in the excitement of the season with candies, treats, and other goodies. To make this event a success, we're counting on your generosity to donate individually wrapped candies, stickers, pencils, and small prizes. Your contributions will bring smiles to the faces of the children we serve, and we're grateful for your support. Donations can be dropped off at any of our school sites, and our contacts - Ms. Lucia at Bonita, Ms. Linda at Barrington, Ms. Jill at Hunt, Ms. Gloria at Yolo, Ms. Britt at OHS, and Ms. Claudia at VR - will be happy to receive your donations. πŸ’›πŸ‘»πŸ¬πŸŽƒπŸ’™

πŸ§™πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I’d like to give a shout out to Ms. Evelyn for her creative and awesome artwork decorating the VR donation box. Thank you Ms. Evelyn, you ROCK! 🌟

πŸ’™πŸ’› What would we ever do without the great support our hardworking classified custodians do day in and out?! Today on β€œNational Custodian Day” let’s talk about our sometimes unsung heroes. They are much much more than β€œjust” the people who clean. This wonderful group of hardworking classified employees play a critical role in keeping our schools and workplaces safe, healthy, functional and welcoming. In addition, Custodians are often the first to respond to spills, accidents, weather damage, and other urgent situations. Their knowledge of the buildings is crucial for drills and safety protocols and with their knowledge they help save our districts money by preventing costly repairs as well. Everything they do ensures that our students have a positive learning environment as well as for the staff. Without custodians, schools simply cannot function at the level our students and educators deserve. They are frontline workers whose contributions keep our district running smoothly every day. Today and every day we thank you for contributing to the sense of community and security across our campuses! πŸ’›πŸ’™

Wish we had pictures of all our amazing custodians from our Chapter but they were too busy working! πŸ‘πŸΌ
