The Avery Mitchell Western NC Livestock Distribution Center has officially closed for distribution. We are out of all supplies and hay.

I want to thank everyone who has helped us through this entire process! If it was not for you all, we would have not been able to distribute to those in need.

The following numbers are representative of how many distributions were given out monthly for October 2024 through January 2025. These numbers do have duplications of individuals, if those individuals came multiple times to get supplies during that month. The following numbers represent distribution visits NOT the number of items. Some distribution visits are not included in the following numbers because they were delivered directly to farms without coming to center.

October- 832 distributions
November - 312 distributions
December - 121 distributions
Jan- 150 distributions

Stay strong everyone! We will get through this rough patch with our community’s strength and perseverance.

Reminder! If you need additional hay please fill out the form posted before and you will be contacted with donors information.

**The Distribution Center operations will cease on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

Please come pick up any hay or livestock supplies that you may need to get you through the winter. Feed and large bales of hay are limited, but misc items, pet food, and square hay is available.

For those who will need supplies and hay after January 18, 2025, please see the form attached below. Complete the form to be included on a list that will connect you directly with donors. Once the form is received, contact information will be sent to you with donor information and the type of supplies available. You will then need to contact the donors and work out transportation and/or delivery to your farm.

DONORS, please note that if you would like to continue to bring donations to producers in need, please contact Michelle South, Extension Agent ( 828-387-5748), or the Avery County Cooperative Extension Center at 828-733-8270.

Please try to be patient and understanding; we know this is a difficult time, and we want to assure you that we are still here to support you. We will continue to correlate the donors and producers in need until the donors run out or the need is no longer present.

Due to an unforeseen circumstance, the livestock distribution center will be closed today but will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday Jan 14th at 10 AM.

FYI we are low on supplies, feed, large square bales, and round hay.

We have square hay, wood, pet food, water, and some misc outdoor items.

Due to emergency today and bad weather tomorrow, the distribution center will be CLOSED tomorrow!

Due to the single digit weather and negative wind chill, we will open the distribution center at 12 pm today. Be safe out there!

The distribution center will reopen Thursday, 1/9/25 at 10am.

After an assessment at 12, it was decided to close the distribution site today for safety. The drive is solid ice and opening is not worth someone getting hurt or wrecking a vehicle.

We will reopen the distribution site on Thursday, 1/9 at 10 am.

Due to inclement weather making the entry into the distribution center is very slick and dangerous, the distribution center will be on a two hour delay with reassessment at 12pm.

Please be on the lookout for a post around 12 pm on the opening of the distribution center. If conditions do not improve, it will be closed all day.

The Avery Mitchell WNC Livestock Donation Distribution Center will reopen this coming Thursday 01/02/25 at 10 am. It will be open Thursday through Saturday 10am - 4pm.
