What costs more: paying for incarceration or investing in second chances?

The answer is clear.

Keeping someone incarcerated in North Carolina costs taxpayers more than $54,000 each year. Meanwhile, community-based reentry services—including housing, employment assistance, mentoring, transportation, and recovery support—cost only a fraction of that while helping people build stable, productive lives.

At Freedom Life, we believe the best investment isn't another prison bed—it's another opportunity.

When people succeed after incarceration, families are reunited, employers gain dependable workers, communities become safer, and taxpayer dollars go further.

That's the power of reentry.
