An email will be sent to CoB Transportation & BPD asking for mitigations to keep cut-thru traffic out of the neighborhood but NHCC advocacy has worked only 1x previously. Fingers crossed 🤞🤞, otherwise we're looking at a traffic nightmare on the hill two weekends in a row.

Feel free to send your own request for mitigation, more requests= gets City Hall's attention.

🚧 Weekend Closure Alert: I-405 Southbound

All SB lanes will be closed between Exit 10 (Coal Creek Pkwy SE) and Exit 6 (NE 30th St) from Friday, May 8 at 11:30 p.m. through Monday, May 11 at 4:00 a.m.

🚧 Weekend Closure Alert: I-405 Northbound 🚧

All NB lanes will be closed between Exit 5 (North Southport Dr) and Exit 10 (Coal Creek Pkwy SE) from Friday night, Apr.17 through Monday morning, Apr. 20.

REMINDER: NHCC Spring 2026 General Membership Meeting TONIGHT! All are welcome regardless of membership status.

⏰ 7 p.m.- doors open at 6:30 for check-in and socializing
📍Newport Hills Community Church (5833 119th Ave SE)

Guest Speakers:
- John Harrison, BSD Chief of Staff & Government Relations: state of BSD, Ringdall & old Jing Mei property updates

- David Isaak, CoB Neighborhood Outreach Manager: introduction of his department & its programs, Q & A re: relationship between the city and neighborhoods

Other agenda items:
* vote on the proposed 2026-27 budget
* preview of upcoming NHCC events
* update on the HOMA land use code amendment affecting the commercial district.

Please consider bringing an item of non-perishable food to donate to the Newport Hills Community Church's food pantry that serves neighbors in need. The NH Community Church graciously allows NHCC to host our board meetings and General Membership Meetings there for free ❤️

The new fiscal/membership year begins April 1. If you'd like to pay the $10 to become a member and support club activities the Membership table will be set up in the foyer, including QR codes for the PayPal account.

TIME CRITICAL- Can You Help?

NHCC doorhangers will be ready to hit doors tomorrow afternoon. We need to get them on doors Saturday & Sunday so people have time to read & send emails to the city council, which will discuss the HOMA land use code amendment affecting the shopping center during Tuesday's council meeting (6 p.m.)

Mustard Seed Grill & Pub will be closing on February 14 after 31 years on the hill. Details in the post below.

Santa Tour 2025 has concluded! Santa, Buddy & all the elves were glad to see everyone. Neighbors were SO generous- a ton of food was collected for the food pantry @ NH Community Church. Many thanks to BFD Chief Dave Tait (Santa), Engineer Matt Crabtree & Jim Quigg (Buddy the Elf).
