📣 Calling All Community Members! 📣

We have an urgent announcement/request to make. Our awesome ice rink, which has become a staple of winter fun and activity here in Newcastle, is facing a critical challenge (yes, I know this was a tough year). We are in dire need of support to keep the rink operational and accessible moving forward.

We Need Your Help!

To continue providing a place that was increasingly drawing use and attention for all that it had to offer, we are reaching out for:
• VOLUNTEERS: Your time and effort can make a huge difference. Whether it’s a few hours a week or more, every bit helps.
• BOARD MEMBERS: We are looking for at least 2 dedicated individuals to join our board and help steer our rink towards a bright future.
• PARTNERSHIPS: If you represent an organization that’s interested in taking over operations, let’s talk about how we can work together for the community’s benefit.

This is more than just an ice rink; it’s a place where friendships are forged, and skills are honed. It’s where the young and the young-at-heart come to experience the thrill of the glide.

If you can help or know someone who can, please reach out to us. Let’s keep the spirit of our community rink alive!

Contact us via Messenger to discuss how you can contribute.

Together, we can ensure that our ice rink remains a vibrant part of our community. ❄️⛸️

We regret to inform you that we have made the decision to close the ice rink for the season. Our attempts to salvage the season did not go as we had hoped and with the warm weather outlook, it doesn't make sense to keep trying. We will use the donations we received this year and put them towards next year. We will also be initiating a fundraising session, likely through Go Fund Me, to put money towards next year. We would like to get a refrigeration system if possible. This would have been the perfect season to have had it. Please keep an eye out for the link. Any help would be appreciated. You can also donate directly to us through the Squarespace link on our FB page. We love putting this together for all of you and will do whatever we can to make the rink more usable in the years ahead.

Hello there! As much as everyone was looking forward to ice skating again, the unseasonable weather has presented some obstacles. We are doing everything possible to restore the rink. However, damage caused by footprints and debris is detrimental to our progress. Please help us preserve the ice so that we all can enjoy it while winter lasts.

What our ice rink looks like. lol!
We’re trying folks. The weather says “No Soup For You!” The Forecast doesn’t look great for ice until the middle of next week. We’re going to need to reevaluate our plans. Sorry folks 🤷

CLOSED!

Please help us by staying off the ice. The liner will hold the water as it melts and re-freeze if there aren’t holes in it.

THANK YOU Bison Aerospace for donating our skate sharpener and the tools to operate it.

Keeping your skates sharp is important for the safety of all the skaters on the ice and can make the difference in how much you enjoy your time skating. If you own your own skates, stop buy for a quick tune up.

Took this photo last night after completing some maintenance. We are so lucky to have this scenic place to enjoy these kinds of activities. Thanks to the city for letting us use this space and thank you to all who’ve helped fund us to get here.

The rink will be CLOSED for the week as we do our best to keep ice through this warm weather. Enjoy the week and we’ll see you when winter returns.

Always good to see you on the ice.
We plan to be open starting at 10 again tomorrow, 1-28, until the ice gives out.
