Our mission is to inspire the preservation of original windows by educating the public about their beauty, craftsmanship and energy efficiency.

The Window Preservation Alliance (WPA) was created to build awareness of window restoration and repair. Windows built before 1960 were designed to be serviced, and can be made beautiful and energy efficient. Replacement windows have been proven to be a poor investment. Many of our members also build custom windows in the traditional manner.

I love when the replacement window industry explains why customers are still not happy with replacement windows.

Window workshop day 1- wrapped! Morning full of discussions and lessons on restoration practice and history of windows led by Restoration West. Professor Barry did an excellent job removing a very stuck tricky tube balance sash on this 1940s building, then Caitlyn took over to do hands on in-Situ window prep! The attendees killed it at all the de-glazing and prep work. By the end these sash will be ready for a new life for this storage building keeping the weather out for another lifetime to come!

If you're thinking of hosting your own window workshop- please do! Plenty of WPA members host workshops and can share resources. There's even a panel at this year's conference about planning a workshop! Please reach out if you're a member and have a workshop coming up so we can re-post.
