Based in Newbury, Ohio, CHMK operates as a leading retreat center and summer camp serving the T1D community and beyond. Located on 72+ beautiful wooded acres in Newbury, OH (25 miles east of Cleveland), Camp Ho Mita Koda serves as home to more than 320 campers each summer and 1000 participants per year. Campers learn lifelong diabetes management skills in a fun, interactive, and age-appropriate se

tting. Our lifestyle enhancing programs empower campers to manage their diabetes, make healthy choices, take personal responsibility, and build self-esteem, friendships, and a life-long support network. Around-the-clock supervision is provided by experienced, licensed physicians and nurses from northeast Ohio's top-ranked medical institutions. Join us November 6–8 at Camp Ho Mita Koda for our Women’s Wellness Retreat — a chance to step away from the demands of everyday life and spend time with women who understand the unique experiences of living with or loving someone with type 1 diabetes.

Whether you're a mom of a child with T1D, a woman living with T1D, or someone who supports a loved one with T1D, this weekend is designed to help you relax, recharge, and build meaningful connections.

Last year’s retreat featured activities like yoga, a sip-and-paint class, hiking, and more, offering something for everyone to enjoy while creating space for conversation, reflection, and fun.

A sincere thank you to the team at Convergint for spending the day volunteering at Camp Ho Mita Koda.

More than 50 volunteers took on projects across camp, including painting the Main Building, splitting and stacking firewood, repairing a screened-in porch and campfire pit, and installing security cameras to help keep our campers and staff safe.

Camp Ho Mita Koda is currently seeking volunteer and paidlicensed medical staff for Sessions 2–5 of summer camp. Overnight medical coverage helps keep our campers safe, supported, and able to fully enjoy their camp experience.

We are currently looking for:
• Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN)
• Registered Nurses (RN)
• Nurse Practitioners (NP)
• Physician Assistants (PA)
• Pharmacists
• Paramedics
• Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (CDCES)
• Fellows

Please note: students, STNAs, dieticians, massage therapists, chiropractors, and physical therapists do not meet the requirements for licensed medical staff coverage.

Overnight coverage is typically from 6:00 PM–6:00 AM for the camp week, but we are also happy to accept volunteers available for one or two nights.
