James Storehouse California From cribs to college, James Storehouse provides for the needs of children in foster care. James Storehouse is inspired by a Bible verse.

James 1:27 calls us to pursue religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless by providing for and looking after orphans and widows in distress. James Storehouse answers this call to serve and support the children in foster care and those aged-out of foster care. James Storehouse envisions a future where community members join together to care for those left vulnerable in our society, especially children in foster care.

A little peek into our newest program Mentoring Mommas!

At the heart of Mentoring Mommas is a simple but powerful goal: creating a community where young moms and families feel seen, encouraged, and supported as they navigate motherhood and life.

Through this program, mothers from the community come alongside young moms, offering encouragement, wisdom, and meaningful relationships to remind them that they don’t have to walk this journey alone.

Our hope is that this community becomes more than a support system. We want to cultivate meaningful relationships.

We’ve already shared two sweet gatherings together, from creating beautiful flower arrangements to making personalized bookmarks! We’re so grateful for the connections being built and can’t wait to see how this community continues to grow.

Here’s to growing together, building lasting friendships, and reminding moms that they don’t have to do it alone. ✨

This week, we had the incredible honor of celebrating a very special milestone with Priscilla, a member of both our Road to Resilience and Open Table Mentorship programs.

Priscilla has shown incredible courage and determination as she has taken ownership of her recovery and worked toward building a brighter future for herself and her son. When she first began her journey, she made the decision to sell her car to remove any temptation that could interfere with her recovery.

This week, we were honored to help put the keys back in her hands. 🔑

This car represents so much more than transportation; it represents freedom, opportunity, perseverance, and a new chapter. We are incredibly proud of how far Priscilla has come and grateful to walk alongside her as she continues to build a life filled with hope and possibility.

And what made this moment even more special? She was surrounded by her Open Table mentors, the people who have continued to encourage, support, and believe in her along the way.

Priscilla, we are so proud of you! Your story is one of resilience, and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you.🩵

🎉 From construction to opening our doors in just four months! (Swipe to the end for the construction mess!)

We’re celebrating the grand opening of our new James Storehouse Counseling Center, expanded warehouse, and food pantry! ❤️

Last year, we were blessed to provide 127 free individual and group therapy sessions under clinical supervision. With limited private space, our staff often gave up their offices and even worked from their cars so clients could have the privacy they deserved.

Now, our dedicated Counseling Center means more access to free, trauma-informed mental health care for our community!

We also celebrated our incredible longtime volunteers, many serving weekly for 5+ years, including one very special volunteer who has served every week for over 10 years!

We were honored to have Mayor Mikey Taylor and the Deputy District Director from Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin’s office join us to celebrate this milestone.

These pictures may tell the story of construction/celebration, but what was really being built was more room for healing, more room for hope, and more room to serve. ❤️

🎓 A DREAM OF OURS IS BECOMING A REALITY!

Having a scholarship fund at James Storehouse has been a dream of ours for a long time, and we are so excited to announce that our first round of scholarships is officially OPEN! 🤍

We believe every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue their education, career goals, and dreams for the future.

We also know that sometimes the biggest thing standing in the way is a financial barrier… and a little support at the right time can make all the difference.

The James Storehouse Scholarship Program provides up to $2,000 per semester to eligible current and former foster youth and other young people at-risk and experiencing significant barriers as they pursue college, trade school, certification programs, and vocational training.

Our hope is simple: to remove financial barriers (like gas money to get to school, rent or housing expenses, groceries, childcare, technology or equipment, utilities, books, etc) and help young people keep moving toward the future they envision.

Applications are now OPEN!
Open to Ventura County and L.A. County youth. Grant reception to pick up your scholarship check on November 19th at JS. Apply at the link in our bio or https://www.jamesstorehouse.org/scholarships
