James Storehouse California From cribs to college, James Storehouse provides for the needs of children in foster care. James Storehouse is inspired by a Bible verse.

James 1:27 calls us to pursue religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless by providing for and looking after orphans and widows in distress. James Storehouse answers this call to serve and support the children in foster care and those aged-out of foster care. James Storehouse envisions a future where community members join together to care for those left vulnerable in our society, especially children in foster care.

We had such a fun time with our Open Table alumni this week! 🏁🏎️

These incredible young adults hold a special place in our hearts. Watching them grow, overcome challenges, and step confidently into their futures is one of the greatest joys of the James Storehouse mentorship program.

We also love seeing the friendships, connections, and community they’ve built over the years. From sharing life together to racing around the go-kart track, this group always reminds us why mentorship matters.

For the past year, James Storehouse has been on the waitlist with VIP Dog Teams, an incredible local nonprofit that trains Community Therapy Dogs and Facility Dogs to serve alongside professional handlers.

Our dream is to one day welcome an official James Storehouse Facility Dog as part of our Mental Health & Wellness Program… a comforting presence for children, teens, young adults, and caregivers navigating difficult seasons.

Today, that dream felt a little more real!🥰

We met a litter of six beautiful puppies who are just 4 weeks old. While it’s still too early to know which puppy might be the best fit, we got our first glimpse of the little faces that could one day help bring comfort, connection, and healing to the youth and families we serve.

For children who have experienced trauma, healing often begins with feeling safe. Sometimes a warm nuzzle, a wagging tail, and unconditional love can open doors that words cannot.

Over the next several weeks, the puppies’ personalities will continue to develop, and VIP Dog Teams will carefully determine which pup is best suited for facility work at JS.

We can’t wait to share this journey with you. Any name suggestions? 🐶✨

💛 We are back with Part 3 of our weekly series: The Neuroscience of Healing.

What if the most healing thing you could give a child or young adult wasn’t another resource… but a safe place to play?

For children, play may look like building, pretending, creating, exploring, or simply being silly. For teens and young adults, play often looks different… a board game, bowling with friends, painting, music, cooking together, a trip to Disneyland, or sharing laughter around a table. The form may change, but the healing remains the same.

💛 Joy is not a reward for healing. It is part of healing.
