We were able to add an unschedule event to the Protect and Preserve America Tour - the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst Open House and Air Show in New Jersery. It was estimated that 350,000 people attended this event, which was situated midway between NYC and Philadelphia.
This was my first event this year with the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, which give the Navy Blue Angels some pretty stiff competition.
Our booth was crowded the entire time with people wanting to know more about renewable energy, and especially alternative fuels to run their cars.
EcoTrek promotes VIABLE renewable fuels. Our current tour vehicles run on biodiesel and cellulosic ethanol (when we can get it). And, our Kia Optima is a hybrid gas/electric vehicle. However, we also work with CNG, propane, electric and oterh alt. fuel vehicles. (See www.ecotrek.com - vehicles) All of these are viable alternative fuels. It is my opinion that we must look at all of these options, and more, to end our dependancy on foreign oil.
The U.S. Armed Forces are including more of these fuels in their vehicles, vessels and aircraft. Many of these fuels are made in America from algae and (non-edible) fuel crops. Others come from waste products like used vegetable oil and even chicken fat. (Tyson foods just sold 500,000 gals of biodiesel to the military that was made from chicken fat - no kidding.)
With gas prices high, EcoTrek's displays are very popular and very important at these airshows.
I'd like to thank the organizer of the McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst show - especially 2Lt Kathryn Yates for enabling us to bring our message to the 350,000 people that attended their airshow.
